shoulda got rechargables. then you won't have to go to the store to get more  :)

Tell me about it. I bought rechargeables with my camera and managed to lose them within days.  ](*,) ](*,)  #-o #-o I might just bite the bullet and get some more. My camera just eats through batteries like a drunk Nova Scotian chomps through a donair on a Saturday night.

Not quite what I would call a "poor man's homecart", especially sonsidernig what the boxes cost, with art, shipped.

LOL

I have several home carts worth around the $200 mark.  There are plenty more that go up from there, with the most expensive carts being around $1000 (except for a couple really spendy exceptions like Metal Slug 1).

So, yeah: poor man's homecart :mrgreen:
I'm not sorry about this, as I'm not sorry about ANY attack by the goverrats.

Today, a bit of luck landed me my first NeoGeo AES:

Also included were Samurai Spirits, Fatal Fury Special and King of Fighters '99.

I already had a NeoGeo CD system, but its nice to not have the loading time between matches. Using an actual arcade stick is a nice touch too.

Congrats man i hope you know what your getting into.

Given the price for aes carts in general though i'm a mvs owner,since it's dirt cheap compare to aes.

I know enough to know I have no plans to collect a complete set of AES carts, I'm nowhere near that wealthy. :)

But, I'll probably pick up some of the cheaper carts just to have a bit of variety. This was a system I wanted to have back in the day and when I saw one available for local pickup (no shipping, wahoo!) I couldn't pass it up.

I made a wrong choice of words, what I meant to say is that MVS aren't exactly cheap once you dress them up. I'm unsure what I paid for Samurai Shodown 5 and Samurai Shodown 5 Special MVS, however I did have to import those 2, at a price. Same goes for Sengoku 3.

I know what some Home carts sell for, however I was not willing to pay $$$$$ to get started with AES since I was a bit late into the game of owning Neo Geo carts, of any kind. MVS gets you much further for the same amount of money, for the same games.

If you enjoy paying $200-$1,000 for a cart, have fun! Unlike TG-16 vs PC-Engine, there are pretty much no differences in MVS and AVS, other than cart shape/art, instruction manual, box, and PRICE! Same game, I can play either in Japanese or English. Unibios and a consolized 2-slot work fine for me.

I say the same for anyone thinking to get into Neo Geo. If you want to play a handful of games, goe with AES. If you want to play more, go with MVS. If you really want AES, and you have maybe $10,000 sitting around that you'd like to build an AES collection with, go for it. That $10,000 will get you A LOT further with MVS. You can buy nearly all the MVS carts, shockboxes, and art for them at that price.

I have no problem with people buying MVS games, but shockboxes are silly. If you want the art go AES!

Even if I was a billionaire I would still be gaming on the MVS. I like the experience of the cab.

Shockboxes are more than a place to slip in some art. They keeps out teh evil dust. MVS boards
are pretty fussy about needing clean carts.

Shcokboxes make is much easier to find a title. HOWEVER, they do make the carts take up more space;

What I like about shock boxes;

- protected from most dust
- Protected against falls. It's not good to have the screw pillar inside a cart shatter due to a drop.
- Easier to find jap carts
- Though it consumes more space, I think they look better on a shelf than loose carts or insdie their cardboard boxes.

If people want to spend money on AES, it's all up to them. Unlike PCE and TG-16, there are nearly no differences in the games. Same games, can play eitehr in Japanese or English. I wish the same could be said about TG-16 and PCE! That is the reason I cuold not justify spending 2X-10X per cart. Same game, different machine and cart size. Any small differences, unibios takes care of.

Actually if you take into account the how to play flyers, marquee insert, stickers, ect you get plenty of art right there,that's if you get a complete kit at least.

Nice grab ooPo!!  :clap: Don't tell me you found that at The Last Game Store?!   :o  I actually stopped by the Clayton Park store today to see what they had there. I forgot they had some arcade cabinets there, like the Capcom vs Marvel and Final Fight.  :clap: Alas, no Turbo stuff.  :(
