Holy f'n shit!  I just checked out their page and couldn't believe my eyes.  Look at the slogan for iPhone/iPod software: Do the Hudson!!(ß).  One can only imagine the new levels of homo-eroticism that could be reached by controlling Cho Aniki with a touch interface.  Do the Muscle!

P.S. - What the hell is an eszett doing in the slogan?

When I read this thread today I was roflmao the whole time.

Being a big fan of Ys, the supposed "Adol" and "Sword Battlin'" had me going nuts!

Where is that picture of "Adol" from anyway? And was there really a game made called Sword Battlin'? 8-[

Well many people are fans of Hudson's games that aren't Bomberman?

Well for such an "obscure", and "fairly unknown" series, seems to be holding it's own  :-k

My guess is that most of the folks who post here also go there.

Doubtful, but may be true..I've been here short of a year, and yesterday was my first time there.  I guess knowledge of Ys is escaping!!!

But the Iphone game wouldn't be tied up in legal crap.  The one for Turbo is(though, Hudson won't talk about it).  I think it's Thomas Haden Church that's holding back the bandwagon, since he's a "star" now, maybe he feels he needs more money for his role as Goban!  This ofcoarse, is just my theory, but, it's the only thing that makes sense.  IIRC, Ys has been rated for quite some time by the ESRB or whatever.

The Adol pic is from the original PC-88 Ys game. Therefore all subsequent Adols are crooked imposters.

The Sword Battlin' pic is a mock-up I did for an old thread, showing how Ys would've turned out if Hudsonhad  somehow had enough money to afford to hire the geniuses who took Makaimura and made it "Ghosts 'N Goblins".

Or maybe the people that have played Ys on one of the dozen of formats that it's been released on over the years are going there.  Just because you hadn't heard of Ys until recently does not mean that the rest of the world is equally ignorant.

Yeah seriously- even when it was announced that Ys would be released on virtual console I saw the vc coverage sites jam up with cats who wanted to play it- people who HEARD about it without having played it- people that obviously weren't from this site.  Just let it go man, the world isn't flat, people who declare their love of videogames don't get beat up (unless they're you), and Ys is a videogame franchise of some reknown. Every single person here is telling you different so just give up the ghost already.  We've all been around the block- you've barely stepped out of the front door.  :-"

Nintega's video brought the world's most l33t hardcore Ys fan out of retirement to provide this enlightened comment-

I was fortunate enough to have been given Ys Book 1+2 as an Xmas gift in 1992, so I grew up already knowing the proper pronunciation. Then again, any half-wit with a subscription to EGM at the time knew it too since EGM's review crew cleared up the pronunciation problem.

Anyone pronouncing it "wise" is a poser. A "gaming newfag" to their very rotten, deserving-of-death core. Christ, with 50+ vids on youtube of this opening they still haven't heard it being spoken? Abortion is the only solution.

Haha, that's awesome.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

That's BoilerPlate, who calls himself a grumpy old gamer on his channel; I've known the guy for quite a while now. He can be a little rude sometimes, but he's an alright person. Viewing his comments on it, though, he seems to be getting a LITTLE out of control right now .
