I concur. Most smokers are completely oblivious to the invisible cloud of tobacco stink they perpetually carry around with them. It's especially problematic for me because I'm allergic to cigarette smoke. I guess I'm just glad Ohio banned smoking in public areas (like certain kinds of parks), buildings, and businesses.

I'm the same way. I don't know if it's technically an allergy, but ever since a near lethal sinus infection when I was younger, even the slightest amount of smoke or 'smoker scent' makes be very ill. We've got better than average anti-smoking laws here, but I still can't avoid encountering huge amounts of it on a daily basis.

Outstanding update! It must've took you a crap load of time to make all of those Darius levels since you had to record every level! It certainly paid off though, that's some really cool rare stuff! I love seeing the NEC Avenue logo shown in old skool 80's video fashion :) .

I might have to try your clean guide for my PCE sometime. I tried bleaching the lid for my CD unit once, but as I posted about my experience here years ago, I made a huge mistake by trying to wipe vinegar on it or something afterwards. Thankfully Helgeson was kind of enough to send me an extra empty PCE CD case he had.

One cleaning tip that I would recommend (that I got from Steve on a thread about this years ago) is to rub a little vasoline on the red PC Engine logo on the system before bleaching it so it remains vibrant. Sometimes bleaching can slightly fade away the logo, but yours looks like it came out fine.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

Thanks, I actually recorded the entire laserdisc in one take, planning to slap it on a dvd as-is. But it turned out to be over an hour and a half or something. So I chopped it up for my site and youtube and it did take a hell of a lot longer than I expected. #-o A couple more Darius videos will be added shortly.

I needed to clean some yellow stains from the PC Engine logo anyway. However, I couldn't find any paint loss after careful inspection and lingering bleach smell is a complete non-issue. I think that I could detect the faint scent for maybe a day or two tops. But I also rinsed everything thoroughly.

Doing it the way I did, basically gave me perfect results. :)

The only problem was that I didn't pick up a pair of rubber gloves beforehand and was stuck with only the one and the bleach ate away so much skin around my finger nails in particular that I don't think it will ever all grow back. :P

WAAAAAAAAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

HA! HA! HA!

That explains everything! All of the Super Darius Perfection videos (even a Street Fighter II Arcade "Game Live Video" from Pony Canyon that's on YouTube), it's INCREDIBLE to see that they were for an update on your website (I saw the link on the descriptions of them, but I thought they were just for seeing an entire footage of all the stages, and I was only interested in seeing them there, plus I was busy with other matters). I like the layout of the page, too, with the levels being able to be viewed by selecting them on the in-game map links.

Can similar, or at least the same, techniques for cleaning a yellow PC Engine be used for doing so for a TurboGrafx-16. I'd love to get some of the marker off of the console I have (hopefully, it wouldn't require disassembling it like the Japanese one).

Well, it could be that the secondhand effects of cigarette smoke are affecting you badly, but when I'm around it, I start to feel a little bit weak myself (as if it becomes hard to breathe, and my lungs seem to contract, but it could be psychosomatic as I don't have any known allergies to any substances). I try to cover my nose a mouth when I'm around it, and, trust me, I'll never be foolish enough to try it no matter what kind of situation I'm in.

Are the updates completed for now? THE BIG SLEEPER HAS FINALLY WOKEN UP FROM HIS LONG NAP!

I'm trying to complete neutered versions of projects that have been lying around partially to near-complete for a long time. I should have another small site update later tonight. The Darius map is modeled after Darius II (Darius 1 doesn't have an in-game map) and the icons are straight from the game.

If you're talking about grease pencil type stuff, peanut butter is supposed to work well, but it didn't for me. However, Goo Gone quickly disolved everything but stains, which the bleach takes care of. Even though stains shouldn't be an issue with a black console, it's still worthwhile to Goo Gone and bleach it because the end result is a good as new casing that smells and feels like it just came off of the assembly line. If you're like me, it gives you the same feeling as buying a game new instead of one that could have passed through any number of grubby hands.

Are there any similar videos/laserdiscs for Super Darius 2?

UPDATE: Today I added the Street Fighter II "Game Live Video" laserdisc. Another japanese super-play video.

Also the Super Darius Perfection page has been updated with Boss and Ending compilation videos.

The Bosses video wound up pretty huge and I will likely break it down into a few parts someday. For now the only alternative is the version. Because these videos were recorded from old laserdiscs through composite, I had to keep the bitrate higher than normal gameplay videos.

There may very well be, but this is the only Darius related one I have ever found. I do have another super-play video of a classic arcade shooter that I hope to get up on my site soon.

The first Super Darius does not have a map? I was wondering if there was one in it from watching the videos (at least to show where the player was going next). I was aware that Super Darius II had the layout, as I've seen of it, and they were nicely taken nonetheless.

Would the bleaching, by any chance, make my TurboGrafx-16 look like a PAL TurboGrafx :x?!? I wouldn't want to try any sticky substances on it too much since they can be hard to clean off later (unless it could be an exception with the Goo Gone) and can end up being hard to clean off later or even damage the console. Aside from that, it's such an honor to recieve that console from you, in spite of it being a hand-me-down to you possibly first (it does have the numbers "1189" on the AC Adaptor, and assuming that it is a very part to the system I possess, could be the date that it was manufactured...Is anyone familiar with the one having the serial number 99A8573HB?). I'll admit it would have definitely been nice to have it new or like new, but using a baby wipe or two on it might have taken care of the grubbiness/germs on it.

WHOOHOO! The Street Fighter II "Live Arcade Video" page also was nicely done (I wasn't sure if it was you playing in the videos or not from them, though you've shown a bit of your before, but that page did help explain it much. I also like the way that the different character images were used to link to the videos of them (like the Super Darius II map layout). They were all nicely drawn on the box (especially Guile, though Dhalsim is faint in the eyes and Zangief looks creeped out). Do you have any other low-quality videos of them made? OH! What are the other videos supposed to be of :D?

I'm no expert, but I really don't think that the bleach can do any harm.

Just use a cloth (not paper towel) and Goo Gone will definitely remove any kind of glue-like substance and many other things from your console. The only thing is that you need to then clean off the Goo Gone with something mild like Windex and/or water so your TG-16 doesn't smell like oranges for a while. There are likely similar products that will work as well, but Goo Gone is the only one I've tried and it works.

For now youtube is the only lower quality alternative. My video editing software is busy converting videos for something else...

UPDATE: Today I added the Fantasy Zone Super Play VHS. Another japanese super-play video.

Each stage can be downloaded individually, there is a single 19 minute video or you can watch them on YouTube.
