Hi folks,
(Technically not my first post, but I'm still 'new'
)
First off, very cool forum you have here. I picked up a TE a few weeks back, and found this place while looking for info on the TE sound fix. My TE now has perfect, loud audio.
After researching here for a few weeks, I finally pulled the trigger on a Duo-R today (plus an Arcade Card Duo, a Tap, and a second controller). I have a few questions I figured I'd throw out there in 'preparation' for the new bundle of joy that's en route to my house.
1. I'm in the US. What's the verdict on running a Duo-R off of 110V instead of the 100v it was designed for? I've seen everything from "It won't work" to "HuCards work, CDs don't" to "Fire and smoke!" Do I need to be worried? If so, what's the best (safest) method to make sure my Duo-R stays in prime running condition? Step-down converter? DC adapter from Rat Shack?
2. What's the going rate for a Duo-R region switch install, and who here is doing them (besides Nat who is currently on hiatus)? Currently all of my HuCards are US, so I'll be locked to the TE for awhile.
3. Game recommendations, of course! Already in my crosshairs are the ones I was junked on years ago (note I never owned a Duo or TG16/CD of my own). Gate of Thunder, Lords of Thunder, Beyond Shadowgate, Cosmic Fantasy II, Ys, etc. are all on my list. And also Splash Lake and Ordyne.
I know Rondo is a must-have (already played through the PSP version) and Sapphire (yeah yeah, someday). Any others? Japanese titles are (obviously) OK also, as long as knowledge of the Japanese language isn't required to enjoy them (I can't see playing through something like Cosmic Fantasy without being able to read, but I imagine Sapphire is very playable).
Thanks!
JP
EDIT: I probably shoulda posted this in the PCE forum, huh? I guess it'll always be the Turbo Duo to me, regardless of it's nationality...
