Oh yeah, does the Super Grafx version have the Red Arremer/Guinivere abduction cinema like the arcade had?

That particular cinema defined the entire series. Ghosts N'Goblins (NES), & Super Ghouls N Ghosts (SNES) had it, but Genesis/Mega Drive doesn't.

The SGX version is missing all of the opening scenes. It only has the one scene when you start a new game, where the couple gets hit by a couple of lasers.

AH,  I didn't realize there was more! OOPS

Here's the full intro that begins as soon as the arcade boots up and then repeats in attract mode-

Hmm, old post.

Well, I did beat G&G for the SGX back in 1994(going through it twice). Also beat Aldynes and 1941.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

The second loop in Aldynes is "expert mode" and I could only beat expert mode with ME and save states - there's no difference in the ending. I beat the first run through the game on the original back in '94. My friend still has th VHS cam recording of me beating it! Took me 3 hours on the last level!

Actually, there is a 3rd loop! But have only done this on the emulator with save states and slow mo! It's impossible.

Insane! Thanks for the scoop. You kick my proverbial butt when it comes to Aldynes, because I have yet to beat the game (I can get to the end? boss, but the lightning is wicked fast -- tough to dodge -- and I don't think I've found the correct weapon to use 'cuz I don't seem to be damaging the "core" sphere at all).

Third loop?  This corroborates what I've heard from folks. In fact, someone actually claimed that there were FOUR loops in Aldynes, but this has yet to be confirmed.

Crazy.

Maybe it just repeats forever like some arcade games.

Maybe i should give it a try on the SGX GnG. I beat the Super GnG SNES version in 1996 after hours of play all day. It just takes a lot of practice, dying and memorization of treasure chest ,enemies and patterns.

The best way to beat all GnG games is to play it like your practicing it first. Then get serious later. Too bad this series died in 1991 or so. I would love to see another Trojan also. Damn that game was a B.

It wouldn't supprise me. Infact, I was viewing the rom with a tile viewer and say some interesting grahpics/large images. Either was a debug mode or special ending.

Doubtful, the level numbering still increments as the game loops after the end. Third run through, the first level is "level 15".

I loved Trojan (NES)... but that game was unforgiving.

Hmmm, intriguing. Hopefully the investigation of the this game continues. I was under the impression that Blazing Lazers, for example, loops many, many times (perhaps endless)...

I hear the new GnG on PSP is supposed to be even more impossible than ever.  :) I briefly tried it at the Tokyo Game Show, but I wasn't fond of the new 3D gfx.  Looks like classic 2D GnG gfx from a distance though.

Capcom (and most companies it seems) sure can pump out the sequels to games like Devil May Cry once a year it seems.  But it takes them 10+ years to make sequel to a game from the old days... bastards.

Maybe it's possible that Aldynes even has MORE than four loops!? Has anyone ever beat the fourth loop? I know someone just mentioned that there are four loops...
