pcedaisakusen.net update!
« on: August 04, 2008, 01:01:02 AM »
I'm currently working on a new release of the framework the daisakusen page is based upon. This took me quite some time as about 75% of the code has been completely rewritten. However, the new release is in the pipeline and I'm about to start planning the daisakusen update. Below is a list of things I want to include or improve.

[ul][li]Adding missing games to the database (mostly promos, demos, prototypes)[/li][li]Adding a section for PC-FX games (I'm not sure yet how to integrate this part into the rest of the page, suggestions are welcome)[/li][li]Redoing filter/countdown feature: I'm thinking about giving a pool of filters/countdowns to choose from in the profile page so everybody can customize his search/collection page (e.g. shoot'em ups, RPGs, mahjong games, Hudson vols, etc.).[/li][li]Collection options will depend on the actual game (e.g. atm it's not possible to mark the spinecard checkbox of a hucard game which came in a big case)[/li][li]All system cards and other unclearable stuff will be removed from the clearing countdown[/li][li]Gallery/game room feature for users to share pics of their game environment[/li][li]Adding more profile options (avatar, multiple templates to choose from, ...)[/li][li]Collection compare feature (games you have which the other don't and vice versa)[/li][li]Advanced search feature[/li][li]More statistics[/li][li]Full redesign[/li][li]Translate the Japanese parts which are still in English (help  )[/li][li]Adding more information about games[/li][/ul]
About adding more game information: Since I can hardly find any time to add missing genres or stuff like that, I've recently been thinking about a link on each game page which leads the user into a contribution mode where he can add/revise missing information about the game. The infos would be checked before added to the DB. However, I don't know if people would use this, therefore I'll be waiting and make my decision later based on the number of positive/negative comments I've received about this.

If somebody has another feature request or a suggestion about a point listed above, please let me know and I will see what I can do :)

I would definitely use it... but I'd be extra careful about requiring and checking citations and all that.

Also, thank you for all your hard work on pcedaisakusen... I really love it, and wish I had versions for my other consoles as well!

I've been waiting for these updates, this is awesome!  I hope there will also be a checkbox for the outer cardboard box on TG-16 games (I'm assuming this is an update that will fall under "Collection options will depend on the actual game ").

I <3 pcedaisakusen
I'm not sorry about this, as I'm not sorry about ANY attack by the goverrats.

I'm not sure of the best place to request or suggest updates, so I'll try here.

1.  Please add Insanity, Mysterious Song, Pyramid Plunder, Revival chase, and any other titles which may need to be added to the database.

2.  I don't know if you can do this, but I would love to see 1-player, 2-player, 1-3 players, 1-5 players, etc... in the information for all of the games.  I would even prefer for there to be a way to filter the games by single-player/multi-player or something.

3. Of course, more pictures of the games, actual HuCard, CD, manual, jewel case, retail box, screenshots, etc would be MUCH appreciated, but fortunately we have The PC Engine Bible for those if it's not convenient for you to add this to the site.

Anyways, thanks for the great site!

I can't do anything about the other stuff, but I can add pictures.  If you (or anyone else) has anything they'd like added, send it my way.  One caveat: I won't add watermarked, heavily compressed (bad artifacts), or otherwise shitty looking stuff.
