WANTED: PC Engine/ Turbo Duo system
« on: August 07, 2008, 02:13:31 AM »
The Turbo bug has bit me again!

I had a system last year, got tired of it - and sold it off. Big mistake, I regret it.

I'm looking for a either a PC Engine Duo or a Turbo Duo - either one is fine as I'm planning on doing some mods to it.

I'm not looking for anything in perfect condition, but nice condition would be acceptable. A game or two would be great, as well.

I have some things up for trade:
- modded Sega Saturn (Jap) White Model, 2 controllers, games, RAM cart and ST-Key (rare) for imports.
- iQue Nintendo DS, Navy Blue, excellent condition (I'm anal about this) with R4 flash cart and Hori screen protectors - boxed, including manuals and demo disc from iQue.
- Nintendo Gamecube, modded, US version, Platinum. Good condition on this machine, a few nicks here and there but in fully working condition.

If anyone has one up for grabs please throw me a PM. I'm looking of course for at least one controller - - but more specifically I'd LOVE a Duo-R as they're just that sexy.

I will provide pics for any of the above items at the request of a trader. I have good references across the board and can supply references upon request. I don't trade much on here, but I've been a member for awhile. I'll expect any pics of trades, etc. in the transaction. This way, everyone is happy!

Thanks!
Tim

Best bet is to hit ebay. sell the stuff you have, and buy one. Many folks here are just too reluctant to part with their turbo or pce hardware.
Good luck though either way :)

Thanks for the advice - but ebay is pretty absurd when it comes to prices for NEC hardware.
I'd trust another Turbo fan over some unscrupulous seller on ebay any day!

About three days to late as I just traded a DUO as I got a DUO-RX. Talk about bad timing. :(

I have an extra Duo that works, but no AC and no AV cables. If you mod it, you might want to change the sound capacitors, as these take a few minutes to warm up for the CD sound (common in Duos).

Let me know if you want it and what your offer is.

How easy is it to get an AC adapter and AV cables for the Duo?

A/C adapter from Radioshack, just get a multi-adapter. And as for the A/V's I just ordered a pair from TZD.com they suck for shipping games but never had a problem with hardware. I got mine within 5 days of order....

The US Duos seem to fetch a significantly higher price on eBay than the Japanese ones (even the Rs and RXs). I rarely see US consoles go for under $200 (plus shipping) even without games included.

After much thought, I ended up getting a Duo-R, two pads, a tap, and a pristine complete Arcade Card Duo for $156 last week on the bay. Everything was in superb shape too (except for some yellowing on the white Duo-R pad). The guy I bought mine from had RXs for $175 and complete boxed Rs for about $165. The catch? Shipping costs from Japan.

That may seem a bit high, but not compared to what US Duos are fetching on eBay. Plus, from what I've read here, the Rs and RXs didn't have the sound issues of the original Duo. The tradeoff of course is you can't play US hucards without a mod or adapter, but that was not an issue for me. I will either get it modded eventually or pick up a base TG16 unit for those, in the meantime I have my TE.

Oh, and the Japanese consoles look hotter too.   :D

I know US Duos are a bit more expensive, I would actually prefer a Japanese system - lower price and more software.

I have an S-Video modded Turbo Duo for sale that I posted on ebay(2 days ago) only to have it delisted for "copyright infringement" reasons.  An S-Video mod has nothing to do with that!!  I e-mailed ebay and told them the situation and I am awaiting their reply.  Hopefully, I will be able to relist it very soon.

Anyway, the system was S-video modded by member d-lite in 2005 and new caps were installed by turbokon last month, so it has no sound issues.  The reason why I am selling it is because I recently purchased an RGB-modded Duo-R and will have that region-moded by turbokon this month.

System comes with:
Console w/S-Video and RCA jacks on back
   1 controller
   S-Video and composite a/v cables
   AC Adapter

Anyone who is intersted let me know, and maybe we can work something out.

If you used the word mod or modded they will def yank auctions at times.
