What are everyones favorite shooters for the platform at the top of my list is Blazing Lazers/ Gunhead then Lords of Thunder, and Soldier Blade (which I prefer over Final Blade and Super Star Soldier). What does everyone else like?

It's tough to say what's the best exactly, so here are my favorites in no particular order:

Gates of Thunder, Lords of Thunder, Blazing Lazers, Star Parodia, Soldier Blade, Final Soldier (I actually find this one a little underrated), Psychic Storm, Psychosis, and many more!

To narrow it down to three, I'd say Star Parodia, Gates of Thunder, Lords of Thunder.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

Lords of Thunder, Gates of Thunder, Blazing Lazers, SideArms, R-Type, and I even enjoy a little Ordyne from time to time.  Cotton and Magical Chase are decent too.
Games I Need: Bonk 3 (HuCard), Legend of Hero Tonma, Magical Chase, Soldier Blade, Super Air Zonk.

Got one to sell? PM me!

Lords of Thunder and Blazing Lasers for me, no doubt.  I usually use those to test the mods I do and I end up playing about an hour a piece each time.

I have a soft spot for R-Type, but it's too damn hard.
Check my site for Turbo, Neo, NGPC, and superguns!

I love 'em all, but I'll list some KICK ASS ones that have yet to be mentioned:
1. Gradius II
2. Dragon Saber
3. Spriggan Ghost Warrior
4. Salamander
5. Aldynes (SuperGrafx -- emulation)
6. Raiden (CD version)

and....

6. God Panic (this game is a really corny cute-em-up... I like it)

I'll stop there....

Sometimes I want to say I really like Spriggan, but after the first level, I can't seem to enjoy the game as much :( . It's still really fun to play once you haven't played it in awhile.

I'd have to say that I don't have alot of past experience with shooters on the turbo...but i'm getting it now!  it's virtually a shooter fan's wet dream...I am finishing GOT now,  and really was amazed at how thrilling I found it to be and how many times it left me saying "whoa"..   I now have a plethora of shooters lined up...LOT,  star parodia,  parodius,  side arms,..so I'll let you know..I just let spriggan, image fight 2, andcoryoon go on ebay,  guess they are pretty good buys too...but jeez, after GOT,  they have alot to live up to!  they Soldier series is hard to find these days ,  but eventually I want them as well

LoT has a special place in my heart (that's why I made that PC demo :)  ...there hasn't been that many games that actually get my thumb tired, but LoT is one of them.  The gfx and sound are a true statement as to what the TurboDuo could have been, given another year or so of development time.

Yeah, LoT still amazes me to this day.  And you're right, if the Turbo could have lasted just a bit longer it's would have been great to see how much more of this stuff developers could have pulled off.  IMO, it's the most impressive game on the system and the one I most highly recommend as a showcase game.

LoT is a very wonderful game and really shows what a 16-bit CD game is suppose to be like - it's also one-of-a-kind. I think Gates might be just a little better in the gameplay department and soundtrack.

Yeah, gates is the shooter i go back to more often... but Gates has such a generic aesthetic... Lords has the much more interesting character design, level aesthetics, and bosses.  that's why Lords rules!

But Gates is probably the better of the two, when you strip away the aesthetics and look at the core shoot-em-up essence.

Yes, Gates is more for shooter fans and Lords is more for everyone. Another plus side for Gates are the three other games included :D .

The shooter I play since 8 years now is Gunhed! That's the one I pop into my PC-Engine once a month to play.

I also enjoyed Gates of Thunder very very much the years back. LOT wasn't really my cup of coffee, as the hard guitar sounds don't turn me on. But it's a formidable shooter anyway.

Oh, and Super Raiden is also one that I pop in once a year ;-)

That reminds me... has anyone ever beaten Gunhed at the higher difficulty levels?
