PC-FX Import Question

Seeing that the system and games were only released in Japan.  If I purchase a PC-FX how will I be able to understand anything?     Are there any language options for English?

Welcome!  It really depends on the game, though the vast majority have japanese text to some extent.  I personally don't speak or read japanese, but have still been able to find more than a few games that are completely playable.  Other games I need a walkthrough to get me through certain parts.  And some games are completely unplayable.

I say get one, and start off with some games like Battle Heat, Last Imperial Prince, Boundary Gate, Galaxy Fraulein Yuna and maybe Power Dolls FX.

If you have the money, the best, most action oriented games are Zenki FX, Chip Chan Kick, and Super God Trooper Zeroigar.  All are very expensive, but require no knowledge of japanese, and are fantastic games!

Many of the games are very playable for the non japanese player (such as myself).  The stories (especially rpg's) will be lost on you for the most part, but many of the cutscenes can fill you in just by the action.  Definetly a worthy system to have.

There are translation patches for a small number of games, other games have English menu options as it is, and and still more aren't going to require knowing Japanese to play. There are relatively few games on the PC-FX that are unplayable without knowing Japanese, in my experience. Mainly just the dating sims, of which there aren't many, one of which has a full English translation in the works already.

As long as you have a little patience and actually want to play the game, most of them are playable without any Japanese knowledge other than what "hai" and "iie" look like (yes and no).  Once you have yes and no down, everything else tends to work out alright.  Avoiding the simulation/board games is the best way to avoid lots of Japanese, but you might eventually love the FX so much you will want those as well.

As others have said, if you have the money, these are excellent games that require no Japanese:

Chip Chan Kick
Super God Trooper Zeroigar
Zenki FX
Shanghai
Far East of Eden

But there are still great games to be had cheaply that require no japanese to enjoy (though maybe a bit to 100% ubderstand).

Battle Heat (super cheap)
Team Innocent (walkthrough available online)
Power League FX
Yuna FX

You should be able to find them even cheaper than that. I sold a batch of loose decks on here earlier this year at $40/piece. $130 seems pretty high for a loose FX, IMO. You'll actually probably want to avoid eBay for PC-FX stuff in general except for the cheap < $10 titles.
