I don't really get that either, Gradius 2 is def my all time fav shooter for the system and series, hands down. I love the graphics and audio, just extremely solid. I was surprised to see someone mention long load times. It loads really fast for me on both my decks. The only time I saw it lag on load was on Quoth09's Super Cd Rom 2 system before I replaced his laser for him.

Same with Gradius 1 and Salamander, both rank very high in my book. They are well balanced, and have no real negatives in my book. I guess it just chalks up to person preference. To each their own I say.

No, Gradius V is much better.  Part 2 has the potential to be a decent game, but one of the things that kind of ruins it for me is how short the CD tracks are.  They repeat so frequently.  Each track is what, barely a minute or so long?

Gradius Gaiden?

the 5th i even can't call a "real" gradius. it's just way too different. and it suffers from its unproper 3d-grafx.

Too harsh putting Atomic Robo-Kid on the bottom tier  [-X
It's not a conventional shooter, but it's really good when you get your teeth into it.

And I would personally move Gunhed down one, the early levels are really dull.

Atomic Robo Kid looks awesome from your vids Sunteam!!

Looks like you can shoot in more than 1 direction, unlike most shooters! Looks right up my alley!

Gradius Gaiden is pretty cool.  Love the music.  Was that even released in the US?

I gots me all the pc engine shootys except ones..Legion, I'm only going to list some of the top shooters.

Winds of thunder: best shooter on the system, great gameplay, 16 bit graphics at their finest, and music that gets you into the action like no other.

Spriggan Mk II: This is the coolest most epic shooter for the pc engine, what makes this shooter cool you ask, OH HELL NO YOU DIDN'T....well lets start with a rainy night over a city with lasers in the foreground and background destroying the city and any one who cant get out of the way in time, foe or friend, as the storm lifts you can see the damage the city has taken...unique explosions for different environments, the last fight is a sword fight

Spriggan: Best vert shmup on the system.

Gate of thunder: compared to its sequel, i think its inferior in every way, another thing  is its unbalanced difficulty, it starts out very easy then all of the sudden BAM, like a big one in your face, it gets hard...and don't any of you act like you haven't been in a similar situation, but still, the game has great gameplay, graphics and music and should be on any top 10 list for the pc engine.

Other top tier shooters are, Saphire, Nexzr, Forgotten Worlds, Macross, Magical chase, Soldier Blade, the list just keeps going, the pc engine is truly the king of shooters....well, of its era at least, i haven't played many shooter past 1995.

Parodius Da is one of my faves (not that i have much!)
I own Sexy Parodius on the Saturn and I just seem to spend more time on the the PC Engine Parodius Da
It feel like there more of a game there somehow. Maybe something to do with the difficulty curve or summin.
Either way, that game kicks ass. Looks stunning too in my opinion.
