Doesn't sound like the VCR is dead yet..... just on life support.  They're still making DVD/VCR combos and other manufacturers continue to crank out stand alone units, but who's buying these relics?

I bought a DVD/VCR for my parents cause they wanted one. They still record stuff off of the t.v with the VCR and they won't spring for Tivo. I've got some stuff on VHS that's out of print, so I might need to pick up a spare VCR just so I have one.

Hmm...I should probably pickup a VCR too while they're still in stores. My current one is starting to eat my video tapes, plus the coax input is going bad.

I'll probably buy another VCR before another DVD player.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).
