Speaking of special...

The game doesn't load a single stage as one block. It loads from specific areas as instructed to. Don't ask me why, it's a slower loading method. Anyway, look at the message for that stage title. Stage X? And no this is not the same graphics from the mini game. This has a totally different title. Also, most of the items are tiny. The candles too as you can see. I've never seen this before. It there supposed to a code for this? I also assume there's a level that goes along with this, but it would be very difficult to figure out. For this to show up, I just redirected the load routine to point to this area I discovered. The level is somewhere else in the data track.

and what is it that makes them "special?"

If you have to ask, you don't deserve to know.

That screen is from the Dracula x sample CD, it contains stage 0, stage 1, alt stage 1 and stage 2.

On a side note, i have pictures of early screen shots that show different enemies, the rock Golem for example is turned to the side and is about 35 or 40% taller, with a completely different shape.

I wonder if there is any kind of benefit in doing it that way.

Thanks for posting the scans Tatsujin, much better than what i have, the Golem almost looks like a cut and paste job, i see other differences in your pics, the layout of the chapel(stage3) is different from the finished game...i need to buy some of these pc engine fan magazines since they seem to be heavy on screenshots.

Oh, the Dracula x demo CD just went for 165 British pounds or about 245 US dollors on ebay.
