Help with PC Engine GT
« on: November 11, 2008, 06:11:39 PM »
Hi,

I recently tried to power on my PC Engine GT via an AC adapter.  Screen briefly turned out but now everything seems dead, no backlight, nothing.   Powering via batteries doesn't do anything either.  Wondering if there's someone on the board who fixes GTs (replaces caps, etc.) to help me out.  Thanks in advance.

ABC - does the system turn on but the screen doesn't work? Can you hear sound playing from the game? If so it just needs the vid cap replacement. Drop me a PM if you want details on the fix.

Unfortunately, no the system appears to be completely dead.  Screen does not turn on, no backlight, nothing.

Your GT sounds similar to Rover's dead Express.  Following that thread, check the fuse first and then start looking for a dead cap if it checks out ok.

Sounds like a blown fuse.

What type of AC adapter did you try to use? What were the specs?

I used the Japanese stock official PAD-121 AC adapter for the GT.
