Vasteel.....35 1/2 (complete w/map AND slipcase)When you're a fan of two thing you love so much like Turbo Grafx and Working Designs, then an item comes along that embodies qualities you liked in both...well, let's just say there are some things the cheapskate in me can't suppress. This whole kit n' kaboodle cost me $60, where as sans slipcase form sold on for $50 on Ebay. Yes, I paid $10 for a piece of floppy cardboard....and totally worth it!
Speaking of slipcases:
Half the nightmare's finished! (One down, one to go!
)
Here's what all the buzz is about. Everyone questioned if this thing actually exists. Myth....BUSTED! (Eat your heart, Mythbusters!
)
Now let's talk slipcase. At first glance, I can see why this thing was hard to find. It barely covers the case and has to no insertion or those fuzzy patches to stick them, so its easily comes off. It's a hood ornament. I really like Working Design giving their consumer more bang for their buck...Come on, the ugly Turbo grafx boxes held the games in, to say the least. No wonder these thing get tossed out. It serves no other purpose than some sort of decoration.
The front has the Vasteel name in reflective red lining with a shiny gold band at the top. On the back, we have the game description with four in-game screen shots. On the reverse side, there's the catalog showcases Working Designs other titles for Turbo Grafx CD/Duo including Exile, Exile: Wicked Phenomenon, and Cosmic Fantasy 2. Look closely, you can see the imprint for the Vasteel name meant to cover the side of the case. In the bottom left corner, there's an application to fill and cut out (Turbo triumph forbid!
) to send for their WD newsletter I believe.
Can't say too much about the game itself (haven't finished the first battle yet). Vasteel is the most "equipped" game for the Turbo Grafx. (The map is huge!) With Sherlock Holmes and JB Harold Murder Club following a close second.
All I need is the Exile: Wicked Phenomenon slipcase and my WD collection on Turbo will be complete!
