Region mods - Who's doing 'em?
« on: January 10, 2009, 10:38:37 AM »
Hi all,
Is anyone here still doing region mods? Turbokon told me in a PM that he is currently not doing them. I'm looking for a region mod and possible LED mod on my Duo-R.

Thanks!

Try here i guess.

Hmm...

I was really hoping for a forum volunteer here. For the most part I'd trust someone here more than some site that may have never even done this particular mod before. And their pricing is probably obscene too, though I honestly haven't checked.

What are my chances of getting a pic or two of the completed switch mod on a Duo-R? I have a friend who may be able to do this for me, time permitting. But as he's never done this particular mod before (and probably never even seen a Duo-R in person, heh) I'm a bit leery. I've also yet to crack the case open on mine to even look at it.

And thank you, I didn't mean to come across as ungrateful. I guess I just assumed there were more members here that did region mods.

Based on your recommendation, I did email OSG. They responded very quickly and seem like great folks, but once I factor in shipping both ways (to Canada) I was looking at well over $100, and at that cost it's hard to justify not just using a TG16 for US duty.

I'll PM the two guys you mentioned to see if they can help me out. Thanks again.

Right you are. Audio and video upgrades, region switches, aesthetic lighting and case designs, custom adapters, etc. I haven't done S-video on any NEC systems yet, but if you have a schematic or diy guide I can do it for you.

I have a few pictures and info on my www.gametz.com user page. My user name is Platinumfungi - http://gametz.com/user/platinumfungi.html

Red Ghost, do you paint TG-16s or Duo-Rs?  I my hardware could use a good paint job.

I got my stuff back from Red Ghost today. :D  He does excellent work and is a great guy to boot!

My Duo-R is now region-modded and LED-modded (color depends on region-switch position). He also extended a few pad cables for me (including an Ave6). Everything came out perfect.   Thank you sir!

Also, pics of the switch and LED mod are on his GTZ site. The pics really do not do the LEDs justice, though.
