I always thought it was rubbish, even at the time. It's just too boxy and lacks imagination, unlike the PC Engine logo which is plain awesome.

The TG-16 logo got the job done, I guess. The PC Engine logo was so much cooler though.

As a designer myself, from a design aspect it was good with the times, and worked. In my personal opinion, it is the best f*ckin logo ever....period. My personal opinions will be forever biased tho. ;)

Agreed.  It's boxy shape and drab colors make it look like it was created with an Atari 2600 version of Paint.

Teh PC-ENGINE logo is l33t. Obey teh PC Engine logo.

The Turbo logo looks all neon and shit. Kinda "square".  But I like it all the same. Kind of art-deco, and the colors don't attack your eyeballs.

The letters are too tall and skinny and cannot be read at a glance.

Yeah, I like it because it is so rare to see.  So while you are browsing game stores for goodies and you see this logo on something instead of the Nintendo or EA logos, you take an extra look.  That's not due to good graphic design, that's due to the gods smiling upon you that day.

I really don't think anything about the logo one way or the other.  To me, it's the games that matter, not what the hardware looks like.

I would proudly tattoo the TG-16 logo, fluorescent colors and all, on my body.

Seriously, though, as far as branding was concerned, it certainly stood out and was distinct. It is bold, nothing is subtle about it (even a black & white /graytone rendtion).

It's a great logo, but it was not beautiful (like the PC Engine branding). Rather, TG-16's logo was beautiful because it was clunky.

I think I like the logo more and more over the years, because of its eccentricities. It lacks "good taste" and "sophistication" and more than makes up for it in the PURE ENERGY it exudes. It is a product of its times, and one of the better examples, IMO.
