Rayxamber
« on: August 17, 2009, 05:14:37 PM »
Hey Guys I wanted to ask if there was ever a Rayxamber one? I was curious, like the thunder force series on the MD the first game is completely off the radar. Can anyone share light on this?

Also while I"m asking the mega gods of PC Engine is there a patch or translated Rom for War of Dead and Blood gear. Those games have peaked my interest but are unplayable due to my lack of the Japanese language skills. If there is, could one of you point me in the right direction?

thanks you gentlemen

First Rayxanber was releeased in 1990 on the FM Towns Marty.  As for the english patches never seen any, but maybe someone knows for sure (Blood Gear is fairly easy with zero japanese though).

Thanks Nectarsis!  I U tubed the game and its a real shame I cannot complete the series due to incompatibility with the duo. I almost want to buy the system just to play it.

What do you mean by the incompatibility with the Duo?  While I haven't played thru the whole game yet, it does work fine on mine(Blood Gear), never tried the other game.

PCE Games coundown: 690/737 (47 to go or 93.6% clear)
PCE Shmups countdown: 111/111 (all clear!!)
Sega does what Nintendon't, but only NEC does better than both together!^^

Yeah, Thunder Force 1 was all overhead levels.  Thunder Force 2 was the transitional game whereas Thunder Force 3 was all side levels.  I like Thunder Force games.  I think every one should.  Thunder Force makes me smile.  Except for Thunder Force 6.  That one makes me gassy.

I think he meant the inability to play all the Rayxanber games on the PCE...cause yeah Blood Gear plays on a Duo just fine lol.

Yeah, Sorry I wasn't clear about the "incompatibility" statement. ITs funny about thunder force 1 because I was playing it on my modded x-box and thought to myself "if this game was related to the MD games." Wow small world.  Thanks for the educational lesson fellas"

Why does T.F. 6 make you gassy? I just got it in from Japan today should I be worried? Do I need to take Pepto or something before I play? :-&

Beat Thunder Force 6 and it then becomes a great game (the new ship makes a BIG difference).  The first playthrough feels underwhelming, but it's my second favorite in the series now.

Rayxanber 1 is lame... not even the music is good.  I know how you feel about being incomplete, but you really aren't missing anything.

But the "booster dash dodge" system sounds really neat. I don't know, I suppose it might not have been executed well, but it sounds neat to be able to "dodge".

Oh well...

I have pictures of the first Rayxanber on my site (look under the info section of the Ray2 review): Rayxanber 2
The game is sadly really expensive and not that good... a disc image is floating around the web though if you want to try it out...

Also, I have a whole article on ThunderForce the first (FM7 version): ThunderForce

I agree with this.  The new ship is MUCH better.  However it is still my least favorite mainly because of the plain graphics and wimpy music.

Hey Ikermel, I've read that article before.  I loved it!  Thanks for providing info on such an elusive game!
