Someone else on here was a sucker and got a Laseractive?  I am the unproud owner of 3 Laseractive systems, only one that works.  First one I bought off of eBay the door did not open.  I brought it to an electronic repair guy and he fixed the door, and then the games would skip and not load...  Second one I bought, the door did not open.  Third one I bought worked like a charm!  However, I am too nervous to use the damn thing for fear of it breaking.  The two broken ones take up most of the extra space in my apartment because they are huge!  I'd love to get them fixed, but I don't have a trustworthy guy in the area and they cost too much to ship.

Got a karaoke pac, 2 sega pacs, and one NEC pac to go along with it, along with about 10 Laseractive games.  I've been trying to complete the US laseractive game collection, but it is A.) very difficult to find some games and B.) very expensive.  JB Harold Chicago Blues slipped out of my hands for over $300 last time I saw it on eBay about a year ago.

When I did TZD's upgrade offer in 1996 or so, the Duo i received was shrinkwrapped, had the band around it about the free games inside, and my free Hu-card was Splatterhouse. I already owned Spaltterhouse, so I left it shrinkwrapped, and I think it's still sitting inside my Duo box.

The trade-in program, I forget the exact details concerning that. I know I had to trade in a fully functioning Turbo Grafx 16, with all the hook-ups (RF, AC, and 1 controller). I pay shipping for the Grafx going to them, and the Duo coming to me, and sent them $50, maybe $100, I'm pretty sure the total, plus all the shipping, was under $200. In exchange they sent me a Duo.

I recall asking the guy at TZD what they did with the Turbo Grafx systems they received in exchange. I think he said they were then donated to orphanages, or something similar. Tax write-off stuff I guess.

That's neat, never knew about that. I didn't keep many flyers from TZD, but I'm sure we'll find the details in one of them.

It's sort of an extension of this TTi DUO trade-in program that accepted Nintendo and Sega consoles, $50 for 16-bit trade-ins, $30 for 8-bitters... of course this was in late 1992/early 1993 :)


That sounds like the trade-in i went for, however, I'm pretty sure I didn't pay $249.99 for my trade-in. I'm thinking it could have been $100-$149.99. I don't have the receipt from that package nearby. I'm actually not sure if I still have that TZD transaction's receipt/packign list, and if I did if it listed the $ amount on it. I have the original TZD branded box the system was packed in, I could have toseed it in there with the Duo.

Yeah, by the time you were getting your console from TZD, the TTi trade-in was ancient and the price of the console would have dropped :)

TheClash, yeah, I got a LA the other day.  I bought it so I could repair/mod the PAC's.  The LA I have won't read CD-R's, but everything else works great.  I've already repaired a Sega PAC that I picked up on ebay for $20.  (took hours tho!  thing has like 80 caps in it!)  If you have two non working LA's, I'd be willing to repair one in exchange for the parts from the other.  Lemme know if that sounds interesting.

It's not surprising: Splatterhouse is a tender HuCard, whereas Ninja Spirit can take care of itself.

Thanks for the offer.  Too bad these things weigh 100 pounds and cost so much to ship.  I sent you a private message, if I can exchange two broken LA for one working, that sounds like a deal to me.  Do you have any LA games?

The way I received my Turbo Duo, was that it had the paper band on the box mentioning the fee games and such, and on top of the banded box was shrinkwrap.

Inside the box, the games were;

- 3-in-1 CD - Jewelcase
- Y's 1&2 CD - Jewelcase
- Splatterhouse

Splatterhouse, nothing special to the game inside the Duo box. It was the same, standard, shrinkwrapped retail game. I never opened it since I already had the game.

The manuals for the jewel case games were inside the plastic bag with the Duo owner's manual, coupon book, etc.

I'm unsure exactly when I purchased my Duo from TZD. It was either 1995, 1996, or 1997.

Ah yes I had forgotten there was a Hu card pack in, mine was Ninja spirit. Darn fine game, wish I still had it.
