Blood Gear
« on: October 13, 2009, 07:23:09 PM »
I was talking to inrunranrinrunsomebody about this today, and just wanted to mention I got past the bit I was confused by - but humorously, you were saying I should give the baddies some credit not to put two conspirators in adjacent cells - but they did! She was just to the right, rather than in the one I could see. Hah!

Now I'm off to unravel the mystery of how to beat this boss. Gah!
Thanks again for the help.

Sadly I already saw a bit of it on youtube. I spoiled everything!

This game really is quite nice, I'm surprised more people don't talk about it, given how action-oriented it is. And the initial town music is great! Wish I knew how to strip it out into an MP3. It's been stuck in my head all day though, so maybe it's for the best this way.

I'd recommend it to anyone who's got a moderate grasp of japanese - the language is pretty simple.

I got mid way through this game this past year when my save game memory got completely wiped out. I'll give it another run to completion some day, but I was a bit bummed after the hours I'd put in already.

Oh, it has gotten a lot of love, but the folks who usually promoted it haven't been around here (or other forums) for a long time. It used to often be included in the "underappreciated" threads on various forums...

Despite some minor annoyances, Blood Gear is top gear. :)

ah, I see!
and nat, that's horrid, that happened to me on the saturn once. Lost a whoooole lot of RPG saves, and never went back to any of the games that got screwed.

yeah, I'm totally stuck again though, trying to figure out how to beat this orange boss that has rotating guns all in the room, but which takes no apparent damage when I shoot him. then he shoots energy balls which kill me right away! There's some sort of shiny gate-looking thing behind him, but I can't get there. any help? I went back to town but didn't find any clues - I suspected maybe I could reflect his shots with my shield, but I can't manage to keep the thing until I arrive at the boss, heh.

So I started playing this today. Damn. Its nice! The control sucks at first but the more you upgrade your shit the smoother fighting becomes.

This is truly a high end, full on Hudson release. I can't believe I've never even heard of it before.

Pro tip: To avoid the bottoming out delay caused by big jumps, use your Arm Gun (or whatever its call, the basic punch) just before you land.

You get some pretty killer artillery as the game progresses.

my new speculation is that I was not shooting him in the right spot. try aiming in different places and see if you can get his health bar to come up.

How did you get the girl out of jail? Do I have to leave the town and come back later for her?

This thread has forced me against my will to start playing this game again and this time, beat it.

I wish you could have more guns in inventory at once instead of having to deplete all of the ammo in order to pick up a different gun.

to get her out you've got to unlock the gate - put on the empire soldiers' clothing so you can get into all the buildings around there - in one, there's a guy behind a bar - walk up to the left and you'll hear the soldiers talking about the key to the gate being moved somewhere. the guy at the bar tells you the combo (it was RRLR if I remember, but you have to choose it in kanji). then at the other building you'll see the guys bringing a switch there, which basically looks like a save machine. input the code, then you'll hear a gate open, and if you go back to the cell she'll be gone. then you can get to the boss, too, once you leave the city and all.
