Sērā Mūn! Uhh, I mean, Sailor Moon!
« on: November 17, 2009, 06:28:07 AM »
I'm such a big Sailor Moon fan, and I have been ever since 2005. The series is the stuff of legend. And the Sailor Scouts are hot too (except for Mini Moon and Saturn for obvious reasons). I'm also a big fan of the relationship between Serena and Darien. Jupiter and Venus are my favorites, because I think they're the hottest of the 8. I'm also lucky enough to have two Sailor Moon video games! One for the Super Famicom, and one for the MegaDrive. Both games are beat 'em ups, and they're very good! Wish I had a 3D0 so I could hunt down the Sailor Moon game for that!

Dragon's Lair appreciation. Again.

You guys are acting like this thread is about Miley Cyrus or something. What's so bad about this show?

I used to watch it bitd, when it was the only anime on tv.  It's not my favorite but it wasn't bad.  I do have the 2 games for PCE, & the 1 for 3DO.

plus a watch, uh 2 of the barbie dolls, some cards and tattoos, 3 decks of playing cards, a notebook , a folder, tons of stickers, the scepter, and some other stuff.

If I were a cartoon, id tap sailor V.

back in my days at the commodore forums, I got picked on for my Sailor V avatar.   Bastards!

incase you haven't figured it out, Sailor Moon is my favorite series of all time.

Those are the girls I thought of when I read the first post.

What's worse that that: the fat dudes dressed up as characters from the show. That was big at the east cost cons for a few years.

Just to clarify: I have no problem with 11 year old girls watching shoujo anime, and collecting all the Cardass and light-up magic princess wands and such, I just think its gross that straight grown men do the same thing. Its just creepy.

Of course this was never the intention of the shows creators who actually did make it for girls (at first anyway) and therefore it not as revolting as the mainstream loli shit that has completely taken over anime in in the past decade or so.

What does Jim Carrey have to do with any of this? And FYI, there are other male SM fans, not just myself. And I mean ALOT more.

That was surely aimed at Arkhan and his Sailor Moon OCD, not you.

Seemed pretty obvious (meaning and who it was meant for) no?

And FYI, I'm painfully aware of this fact, which is why it grosses me out so much. If you were the only guy who likes the show I'd just say, "Weird, oh well", but its pretty widespread. It was a lot more widespread back when the show was actually on the air, but I'm sure a large numbers of those guys aren't in prison/counseling/recovery yet and are at some con right now filling their fannypacks with vintage gashapon and their hats with a hundred little cloisonne pins.

Don't get me wrong, I've had the ota stink since 1979. Its just that with me its more of a fantasy, scifi, metaphysics, robot thing. Gundam Sentinel, Maschinen Krieger, Stand Alone Complex, FLCL, Run Melos, 999, Shin-chan, Lupin III, that sort of thing. My hardcore nerd-ism is more like, "I'd like to see the edge of the universe.", or, "I'd like to pilot that robot.", or "It would be so cool to get drunk with Porco Rosso". Not, "I'd sure to like be/bugger a magic princess in 9th grade."

Is it only homophobic-esque dudes that have a problem with males liking the Anime/Manga?

And you wonder why people call you out on f*ckin RETARDED comments like that (you seem to mention "gay" and homophobic comments often :-k).  I personally could care less who likes it, being obsessed over it (or anything)...especially 20-40 year old FAT men cross-dressing as imaginary female characters is a bit scarry at best.
