PC Boy system?
« on: July 06, 2005, 05:01:41 PM »
I was looking on Ebay trying to find PCE CDROM2 systems, and I came across this auction. I have never seen or heard of this PCE console, but it looks an awful lot like the PCE Shuttle system. Very strange to me.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

Yeah I have been to that page before and thought about it when I was looking at the auction. Interesting still.

Says it was made by Jamiko.  I have no idea who that is, but I found this:
hawanja.com/jamico_neo_boy.htm

I can't view that page at work for some reason though.
Games I Need: Bonk 3 (HuCard), Legend of Hero Tonma, Magical Chase, Soldier Blade, Super Air Zonk.

Got one to sell? PM me!

Yeah that's very strange too. I wonder if that version costs less?

Good work, this is very likely the same company: the logo for the company (Jamiko) and the consoles (neo boy, pc boy) are virtually the same.  I wouldn't be surprised if Jamiko cloned other consoles in addition to PCE and Famicom.

Its very interesting seeing the guts and reading the technical info about these, even with my limited understanding. I wonder if any PCE clones were compatible with the CD, or if there are any clone CD systems? For that matter, when does NEC's patent on the PCE and PCECD expire

I love my new yobo NES. A brand new, cool looking, reliable Duo would be lots of fun.

If I remember correctly, it uses an incompatible voltage or plug to North American outlets or something.

I considered buying one before reading that part.

Plus, it's PAL, so you'd have to overcome that...
