Picking up Vigilante got me wondering about the numbering on HuCards. Are they all numbered in the order of release? My only other HuCard, SFII', doesn't have a number. I take it CDs were never numbered? And as for HuCards, did they do away with the numbering at some point? And finally, is there any site that features a list of HuCards in order by volume? I'm aware of http://www.pcecp.com but I'm not even sure that lists the volume numbers. It might be fun to try to get them in order, or at least get certain good runs.

It appears the numbering only went up to 61 (Bomberman '94). I don't know how consistent it was, but IREM and Hudson definitely labelled their games:

A chronological list of Hudson HuCards (volume #) can be found at the TurboList as well... I don't think CD's ever had volume numbers.

I was hoping the numbering would have been a little more logical. Seems there are several "Volume 1s," for example, and some with no number.

Yeah, in the beginning it was easy to try to keep a handle on things, but I guess that once the PCE started getting a lot of developers and tons of HuCards were being released, it wasn't worth the effort to assign volume numbers. At least Hudson kept doing it.

The volume numbers were internal to each company. The catalog number was unique among all the games (except one duplicate). For whatever reason, CDs for the most part didn't have volume numbers.

I thought it was pretty cool that Hudson numbered all their HuCard games. If you look at the list, there's a few gaps in the numbering. It is possible that those missing numbers were games that were scrapped.

I was wondering about that. Also thought maybe they could be counting games without volume numbers, and continuing the numbering from there.
