Quick TurboDuo question.
« on: July 14, 2005, 10:24:45 AM »
Hey, I'm new to the board. D-Lite pointed me in this direction from the neo-geo.com forums, just had a quick question.

I'm looking into picking up a TurboDuo very soon, besides PC-FX games, is there anything else that a U.S. TurboDuo can't play?

Thanks.

US TurboDuo:
You won't be able to play Japanese HuCards (but you can buy a PC-Engine console for that, anyway, should you desire, or buy an *expensive* HuCard convertor)... and you won't be able to play SuperGrafx HuCards (only a handful were released)... and you won't be able to play Arcade CD-ROM games (hmmmm, you might actually be interested in these: they were mostly SNK fighting games, but there weren't too many Arcade CD games released).

US DUO + Convertor + Japanese Arcade System HuCard = You can play all US and Japanese HuCard / CD (including Arcade CD) games.

U.S. TurboDuo is probably the best system to buy for most folks.

If you are really into Arcade CD-ROM titles and Japanese-only HuCard games, then I strongly recommend getting a Japanese DUO-R console. Arcade CD games would require you to purchase an upgraded system card (Arcade Card). It's much more convenient than using the convertor.  And, if you wanted to play US HuCards, you could buy a basic TG-16 console (they're cheap).

Yes, it is confusing ;)
