Neo Flash w/ save
« on: April 05, 2010, 08:41:13 AM »
Does anyone have one of these?  How is the save function used?  How many hucards support saving anyway?  The only one I know of is Populous. But then I don't know much.

Also, how does it work with the SRAM on the Duo?  It seems like it should be possible to back up the on board SRAM to the cart.  There's a full 2mbit of SRAM on the cart, and the Duo only has 2kbit.   Is there software that supports this?

I don't have one, but I've no doubt that the game is saved the same way that it is on a real HuCard.

The only other one is the Tennokoe Bank.

Backing up the internal memory is the Tennokoe Bank's raison d'ĂȘtre, so I imagine its ROM on one of these flash carts would work in much the same fashion.  Of course, Tennokoe Bank's (and Populous) are quite cheap, so the value of this feature is questionable.

I tried a Ten no koe Bank ROM.  It ran, but beeped at me unhappily when I tried to copy the console RAM to the card.

I wanted to test the save function in Populous, but I can't figure out how to save in it.  How does that work?

Search the forums... I think at least two folks have split open Populous and it's empty (no battery save RAM). Crazy. It was supposed to have this feature.
