Overall, Turbo Fest was a great success. The turnout was much better than last year's convention. The people naturally gravitated to our booth since many of of the members of a website that I moderate decided to accompany me. Thanks to DragonmasterDan, I was able to give my T-16+CD unit breaks by using the DUO he brought along.

Battle Lode Runner was tons of fun as the concept of the game is very easy to understand. It took a bit for people to figure what each power up did. It was an intense match, especially five people on screen.

The five-player Bomberman 94 matches were fun as five human players were facing off in each round. Even though we got our behinds kicked by a 12-year old, we still enjoyed every minute of it.

In the R-Type tournament, hardly anybody was able to get past the first level (without using continues). 12 people signed for this tournament, and it took less than 25 mins for it to be over. LOL. Although one person almost beat the third level, hence, his score was twice as much as the second place winner.

One of my buddies created an arcade stick for the T-16 that was out of this world. It had buttons on the side so that you could enjoy some mad pinball action. It played beautifully with Devil's Crush. Pics of it are posted earlier on in this thread.

Here is a link to some of the pictures of Turbo Fest and a few others of the convention in general.

Bigger plans are in store for Turbo Fest next year. I would like to take this event back on tour to the Midwest Gaming Classic, perhaps with the help of others. I will keep you guys posted in the months to follow.

Thanks to all who came out to support Turbo Fest / Video Game Summit ie Dragonmasterdan, Turbostar, Roy The Sunderer, and a couple more I know I am forgetting.

SignofZeta: What a quintessentially PCEFX thread. Someone complains about nothing, multiple Bible-length posts discussing who's a bigger a$$hole follow. You're both pretty big a$$holes. Let's call it a tie.

Good times! It was cool meeting Chany, Turbostar and Dan, among others. I totally choked during the R-Type tournament, go figure- I can do all right at home... Bomberman '94 was a lot of fun. I'm new to the Bomberman games and although Bomberman and Bomberman '93 are cool as single player games, it's a blast with 4 other human players. Plus, I got the opportunity to play Magical Chase and some other games I hadn't played before. Good stuff.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

Hey Hey!!

Had a blast Saturday at VGS- I should have pix and vids up soon of the event.  It was killer meeting Chany, Dan, and Roy, as well as others that I'm not sure are members of the forums.. lol

I'll be better prepare for next years battle load runner tourney!!  I shall get my revenge!! HAR HAR!!

Keranu u totally should show up next year!!  We were passing around ideas on doing turboFest next year at both VGS 2k11 and MGC 2011.  I think it would be kick ass to take the show on a 'mini tour' LOL TURBOFEST TOUR 2011!!

The main attraction of the show was definitely turbofest.  Chany had a cloud of people around the lil turbografx and duo the entire show.  Yes, even more than the Atari 7800 dude breaking world records streaming live on ustream!  (Which I thought was insanely cool)

Turbo Fest ruled!  Can't wait to meet up again for some turbo gaming.  I'm gonna bust my butt and pick up a Duo-R sometime between now and MGC next year so we can get more systems and TV's for showing off the awesomeness.

PS- What was the name of the gent that won the R-Type tournament?  And is he a member of these forums?  As luck would have it, while wondering around downtown chicago we actually ran into him and he got my family a great GREAT special discount!!  I call it a Turbo Discount!  LOL- anyway, just want to shout out to him that he is insanely cool.

take carez all-
-TS

Hey guys- I think the R-Type winner's name was Josh. The Turbo table was definitely the area with the most traffic. People tend to gravitate toward the cool stuff...

It's kind of funny how the show was mostly Atari themed, yet the little toaster that could (NEC) in the back corner, stole the show. Everything worked out far better than expected. With 2 or 3 tournies happening at the same time, it was hard to predict how many would show up to my booth for my tournies. Fortunately, us Turbo guys always stick together. :)

We should definitely start planning Turbo Fest 2K11. The feedback I got from this Turbo Fest really got me pumped up!!

The winner of the R-Type tourney was indeed a member of this forum. Congrats to him, he really put on a good show for us.
