Best version of THUNDER BLADE
« on: May 16, 2010, 06:21:59 PM »
When I was growing up in the '80s Thunder Blade in the arcade was my favorite game. When I heard the newly released Genesis had a version that was almost "arcade perfect," I promptly bugged my parents to death until they bought me a used system, and a copy of the game. Now, I had played, and cried, over the Sega Master System port of the game already(having received this version of the game for a late '80s Christmas gift) and couldn't wait to get my hands on a copy of the Genesis game. Obviously, I ended up being disappointed.

Now, with a newly bought PCE converter in my game room, I am ready to begin the search anew. I placed this post in this thread because we are going to inevidibly discuss the PC Engine version. But, all other versions are up for debate.

Why Sega has never released an arcade perfect port on the newer systems is like asking why Nintendo hasn't localized the other two Mother titles. Well, maybe not exectly, but it still boggles the mind.

ARCADE. Period!

Unfortunately, you can smoke every conversion of that game!

Sega does what Nintendon't, but only NEC does better than both together!^^

but I kinda still like it more than super thunder blade on the MD, which makes it probably the best port of 'em ;) (excpet the x68k port)

I appreciated the c64 version a lot. it is also the only port which you can zoom up and down (again excluding the x68k port). no imagine that this version runs on the most weak harware of all ports

I just read about the x68000 port at Hardcore Gaming 101! That's one of my favorite sites. Unfortunately, I will probably never own a x64k. And the PCE version doesn't really do it for me either. Guess I will have to wait on Sega to release a port someday.

I really like how the C64 version captures the exciting and refreshing flavor of Pepsi® products.  But it really needs more music.

Oh, I very much like the music of it, but you're right, it needs more of it.

Joe refers to the starting-platform, with the Pepsi add on it :)
