« on: May 21, 2010, 11:26:40 AM »
Hey guys

I was wondering if there was a guide to help repairing a Turbo Tap? Whenever I use it, one direction always malfunctions. I've only used this particular tap 3 times sinse I purchased it from TZD. What gives. Every tap I have every owed has given me trouble. Can anyone help?

Are you using an extension cable on it?

Never and ever use an extension cable with the multi tap, at least not between the console and the tap. Between the controller and the tap is alright.

The reason is the multitap has to send 5 times(of course depending on the ammount of ports on it, less for less ports) the data than a normal controller. Using a extension cable will degrade the signals five times as much as it normaly does. Which causes problems. Most likely yours is a product of that.

I'm not sure that signal degradation is the cause, but masaruh is essentially right: you can't use an extension cable between the tap and the console. That is your problem.

That's what nat said, so it must be true, for nat is never wrong.  Except about the quality of Deep Blue.

hey i tend to like that game for its soundtrack rather then gameplay it blows in the movement department. i still feel its solid

is there any place where i can grab a MINI DIN and just rewire the tap cable myself then? i'm a little better then the first time i hacked up a controller and infact redid the entire cable making it super long

So I"m going to repeat this so I understand perfectly. If I'm to use an extention cable, I need to plug them into the Tap then attach the controllers. the Tap must be directly connected to the Duo. Did I get it right? Do I win a very special prize?

oh boy oh boy I sure hope my prize isn't sarcasm. :-"

Sure.  Grab a cable from monoprice, hack off one end, and follow controller pinouts to wire it up.  Let us know how it turns out.  8)

Yes, you've correctly parroted what has already been said.  You do not get a prize, however, as you're clearly 'special' enough.  :P
