Ha!  Good one.   You remind me of my wife... she grew up around klan in GA and uses that word alot.

That phrase has nothing to do with racism; its origin can be traced to the sixteenth century, whereas the use of the word 'spade' as an ethnic slur has only been around since the early twentieth century.
