Arcade Card Pro/Duo

Hey again everyone,

What is the difference between an Arcade Card Pro and an Arcade Card Duo?

From what I understand, either one will require a Japanese->US adapter to use in an American Duo - correct?

Also, why the hell are the converters do dang expensive?

The AC Pro has the System 3 BIOS built in so it will work in any Japanese system. The Duo card does not have this since it is built into the system. Therefore the Duo card only works in a Japanese Duo or in an American Duo if they are region modded or you have a converter. Basically if you have anything but a Duo you need the AC Pro; if you have a Duo save yourself some money and get the AC duo.

I'm not sure why converters are so expensive. I'm sure someone else can shed some light on that though.

Anyway if you want to use and Arcade Card of any type your better off just having your system region modded. Its more reliable than a converter, and in my opinion it looks better. Best of all its about half the price.

Yeah, I've considered modding my duo, but the task looks a bit daunting.  I'd hate to kill my precious duo....

I'm still considering it, though.  Heck, if I could build an NESpc, then I can probably do this....

one corection.

if you have SuperCD-ROM module you can use ArcadeCard Duo even though you have original White PC Engine...

AC Duo has the less RAM as well compared to AC Pro since Duo/SCD module have the extra RAM built into these to rack up to System 3.0...

My understanding is that the HuCard components use to make a T16 to PCE converter are no longer manufactured/available...  There is a company that had these specially made recent;y- that's why you can find converters at TZD- also why they cost $100

Well, I got my hands on an Arcade Card Duo for a fairly reasonable price - well I guess it is reasonable since I didn't mind paying it :) (50 bux)

Now, I'm seriously considering doing the mods that D-Lite offers on his site (the region switch, the S-vid & RCA jack mods, and heck even the fan addition)

Has anyone else had D-Lite do a mod for them?  What was/is your opinion of the service?

I'm probably going to do it - I've already written him an email, so hopefully I hear back soon.

I have a TG16 unit with the region mod installed by D-Lite. It works just swell, nothing else to really say. :D The man really knows what he's doing. Too bad the post office doesn't. :(

That's because the Super CD Rom module has a built in System 3.0 card like the Duo so you only need the AC Duo card and not the AC Pro.
