This could be an actual poster, or a reprint.

You see this with movie posters on ebay. Classic movie posters, sold as replicas, reproductions, etc.

If the actual poster proves popular enough, the NOS can have a reprint made of it.

1-2 years ago, Wizard Video (Full Moon home video) claimed they found boxes of unfolded, "Big box" VHS boxes. They put them up for sale at $50 and higher each. Big boxes were the size most Porno VHS were in, they were oversized cardboard sleeves with a  cardboard tray. Anyway, people compared those to originals, and found them to be reprints.

(Re)Printing just keeps getting better and better, and if these posters have proved popular enough, it's not too difficult to have them duplicated.

Then again, it could be a stack of 300!

heheh... i'll post a pic when i get it on my wall. ( :

csgx1-  that's the thing... she claimed to have only two left... so i should have had the 2nd to last one on the planet.  Now that she should have only 1 left, there are "only 7 remaining".  wtf...

ah well... $65 is steep for a poster, and i'm sure i could find it cheaper elsewhere if i kept my eyes open for a few years.  Just hate the gouge.  It was a $30 poster when 3 were claimed to exist... then $100 when two existed... and now we're at $80 with 7 in existence.

They were waiting for your funds to cover the cost of shipping an order from Kinko's...

Right after I bought several copies of TV Sports Basketball for myself and for giveaways that seller jacked the price up.  He has not sold another since though.

So now you have to get the poster scanned in high res and make new copies for $10 each. Make your money back.

Could you actually turn a profit at $10 each?  Methinks you'd have to do $20 just to cover costs.

Buying decent quality reproduction posters doesn't cost too much. You can buy, for about $20, a reproduction movie poster, with shipping free. Those are usually size at 27x40 or 41, so larger than this LoT poster.

Exactly.  They're selling 'em at $20 (not $10), and I bet they're printing costs are much lower than anything null would find due to them printing in higher quantities.

I threw out $10 as a low ball number, something like this would be nice at $20-25 probably for all involved.

I'd say sell them on ebay L00K R@R3 CH3AP to devalue the other resellers' stock, but they would technically be counterfeits.

Some of this stuff, I don't think they're printing 100s of. I think it's just a situation where this is their business, and they own the equipment, so they can print what they want when they need it.

If you could get a HQ scan you could probably just put them up on Cafepress if you didn't want to bankroll printing a whole bunch of them.

I'd love to have some of the Working Designs posters reprinted since apparently Vic just took hundreds of them to the recycle center when they closed up shop about 2005.

Not eBay, but amazon isn't much different.

http://www.amazon.com/Lords-Thunder-POSTER-TG16-TurboDuo/dp/B003956JT4/

For the longest time, this poster was listed at $29.95 with "remaining quantity" listed as 3.

I finally broke down and decided that I wanted one for my bedroom (to impress the ladies).  When I went to order, i noticed two things:

1. Remaining quantity had been reduced to 2.
2. Price had been raised to $99.99

Shit.

"This Poster is in NEAR PERFECT - AS NEW condition THE ONLY ONE on Amazon OR ANYWHERE! Own a piece of TG16 History! YOU DO NOT KNOW ANYONE who has this poster!"

Oh man... I MUST HAZ!!!

I contacted the seller and gave him the old "grandma stubbed her toe and is in the hosipital, is there any way you can cut me some slack? would ya take $50 of my dollars instead of $100?"

The response:
"The price increased because of its rarity. I've reduced the price to $59.95 plus shipping for the next 24 hours."

I begrudgingly ordered one because... dammit... my obey station NEEEEEDS a big old Landis standing sentry over it.

The lady seems nice enough.  Nothing personal against her, but today I checked amazon for shit and giggles.

1. Quantity remaining: 7
2. Price: $79.95

Dafuq?  If it is so rare, where did she dig up 6 more copies? -_-

Well, if it was to impress the ladies, as you say... ;) And sure enough, the seller dug up 6 more after the fact. Looks like you may have found a technical gouge here (since we mostly catch greed/profiteering thread-wise although that still applies here) with this seller lying about limited supply publicly, lying to you privately in PM (while likely having the additional 6 copies at hand, although this is speculation to be fair) to ensnare you/someone into accepting rarity and forking over more dough than what a potential buyer would've.

Reporting a higher stock (adding 6) after you based your pricing on only 2 left in your "marketing," and knowing that possibly a previous buyer might see that, I dunno, either seller is a lying gouger, or there is a fair explanation for it (not to rule that out totally).
