Wow!  Roy is back!  Roy, those aren't your boxes, aren't they?

I'm to lazy to go back and check which ones he bought from me but I know some of them were my old ones.
All is well. :)

Since he didn't leave, and nobody is going to ban him, I suggest nobody bother to make posts in any thread he creates since he'll just delete it if he doesn't like the way its headed.

Man that is a dumb, but also Nintendo America was focking dumb for forcing the good "Dream Factory" famicom game into a Mario game that became known as this Mario 2 in the U.S.  They never did release the challenging but fun "real" Mario 2 from JP, where there are poisonous mushrooms and all.  that was a good one compared to the Dream Factory fake Mario..

I have the real Mario 2 on FDS and I must say, Mario USA (English Mario 2) is a much better game.  FDS Mario 2 has some really sadistic level design, like a trick warp on level 8-1 that takes you back to level 5-1.  Simply Evil!  These tricks were great, however they ruined it all with terrible control.  Mario and Luigi both lack what the other has, and the control is just horrid because of it.  Most of my deaths are due to poor control, which makes the game just trial and error over and over until you learn the correct speed and place for each jump.  It just makes the whole game a boring chore really.  While Mario USA is both challenging AND fun. :)

I prefer the "real" Super Mario 2, but its pretty easy to see why NOA gave us something else, and why when it was re-released in Japan as Super Mario USA it was quite popular: because Mario 2 is f*cking HARD!

Super Mario Bros. 2 (USA) is the best Mario game, hands down, followed closely by the 4th one on SNES. Not only is the JP Mario 2 hard in a stupid way (as mentioned above), graphically and aurally it's virtually identical to the first game. They didn't improve a damn thing in these departments, which is unbelievable for a game that was released a full year later. I've always maintained that Mario 2 (JP) feels like the result of someone giving a 16-year old a level editor for Mario 1 and telling him to "Edit the levels in Super Mario Bros. so the game is as difficult as possible," with no regard for actual good level design.

I don't know how this thread turned into Mario 2...  but I like it!

I always hated Mario 2 when I was younger.  I also really enjoyed the lost levels when it first came out.

Then a few years ago I picked up a Famicom Disk System for the first time, with Doki Doki Panic.  When playing the game without Mario in it, it helped me realize that it really was just a very good game.  I had blindly hated the game for years, not because it was bad, but rather because it didn't feel "Mario" enough.

Now I am actually a bit of a Mario 2 addict.  I played through and beat Doki Doki, Mario USA, Mario 2 NES, and Super Mario Advance (which is the definitive version).  Other than Super Mario World and Mario 64, Mario 2 is my favorite in the series.

...Mario 2 Japanese version on the other hand?  Yuck...  just makes me mad to play it now.

Thanks guys, I'm glad we live in the information age.

I'm not a big fan of the cover-up/denial thing. Goes against my morals. Admit what you've done, be judged by your words and your actions, move on.

google is your friend.

Thanks, B&B.  Link added to the first post for everyone's reading pleasure.

Should we snag it and post it in an archive just in case Google removes it from their cache?

Done and done.  A pdf is available in the first post.

Ok so.....

These controllers aren't worth more than $12 shipped in NEW condition. And the Orange ones aren't worth more than $13 shipped.

Susi Sumo's prices are often horrible. I've never bought a thing from him. Once I asked him if he had a KOEI save-kun... he didn't find one right away, but eventually he listed a loose one for like $65 .... which I thought was a lame move.

lol, sorry I am the culprit for making this a Mario conversation, but last comment.  I do love the original "Dream Factory" aka USA MArio 2.  But it felt awkward to see the characters I knew had been replaced by the Mario characters in that game when I moved to America....

Mario 3 though was the best in the series in my opinion.. so creative and ahead of its time.  I was showing the Fami cart off at school like 1 year before it was released in the States to my friends.  The kids were going nuts.  I thought I was so cool on that day.. lol.  Our teacher was focking cool, he even arranged to let me bring in my Famicon and the kids had extended recess break.  man 1989-1990 was a good year :)
