it should be cheap to have some boards made for flash roms.
they wont look stock, but will run.

Ark talked about doing this a ways back, using socketed roms - it sounded like they'd still be pricey ($50+) to build, especially if they were to have a finished look (i.e. a SFII'-esque hump to cover the rom and provide label space).

I would love to see some modern day hucard bootlegs but at a cheap price.

They wouldn't be cheap ($100 or more each), as it's a small community and the start up costs would be huge.

Well they would still be cheaper than those auctions just mentioned  :P

And they would (hopefully) bring the market value of the real ones down some.

I wonder if there is a company willing to do 500 pieces for 5 different titles? (as an example)

Ideally we are just looking for Manual and Hucard correct?  Sparky can keep making stickers for those who really want to case them up.

My vote would be

Magical Chase
Coryoon

Definitely Coryoon. I'm dying to play that game.
If anyone gets any leads on a "fair priced" copy of Coryoon, please lemme know!

On the bright side, some folks got some sweet deals recently. I just saw a Bonk 3 go for $50, Legend of Hero Tonma for $35 and Neutopia II for $20. Of course, I didn't luck out on any of those, but congrats to whoever did. Here's hoping they're gonna play them and not just stick 'em on a shelf or resell them.

The $50 one was supposedly not working...  for $50 not taking that chance but if it's someone on this board I am curious to know if it does work.  You know what really grinds my gears lately?  Chew Man Fu...  wtf?

Terra Cresta II

Tatsujin please! There isn't another shooter on the PCE that I would rather have. And, I never see it on eBay (not that I look that often). I haven't even seen it here on the forums which is a shame.

I was going to mention Chew Man Fu myself! I bought mine about 2 months ago from Ebay for $24 shipped with case and manual (no box). I thought the price sounded a little high, but I really wanted to play it, and according to the hi res auction photo, it was in excellent shape. I also hadn't seen one come up for auction for at least a month, so I figured I'd better "Buy It Now" while the gettin' was good.

I'm glad I did, because the next copy that came up after mine went for $56 plus shipping! Then of course, today's card-only copy just went for $20.50 shipped, which still sounds a little high to me. Not sure what's up with this one. I do love this game though.

Totally missed that one.  There was another for similar price though supposedly not working.

He's still looking. The major cost would be the plastic shell. If you could live with a bare card, it could probably be done fairly cheaply - but he's not interested in turning out bootlegs.

a bare card should be doable for around $5
wouldn't be pretty, but would work
