hmm even if it is authentic, isnt 900 dollars a wee bit much :P. Still Gouging amirite?

It certainly is.

And on second thought, it might well be a fake.  The ones Tobias shows on his site now look to have more accurate coloring, but the disc is still different; perhaps that's why this guy is adamant that it shouldn't be opened.
I've actually never looked at tobias' site, what's the address?

I wondered this as well. He might be insisiting it never be opened because he's some sealed game fetishist or it may be because the disc itself may bear some telltale sign of inauthenticity. I don't go too crazy over rare releases myself, but if I did, I'd definitely be wary of any sealed official sapphire copies. Why risk 900 bucks (or even 100 for that matter) on a possible bootleg copy? No thanks.
If anyone gets any leads on a "fair priced" copy of Coryoon, please lemme know!

It should now be assumed that any sealed copies of Sapphire which are not infront of you are fake.

Having recently received the latest fake copy of Sapphire, the $900 one on eBay still looks real to me. The fake has improved some of the colours, mainly the yellow/pink gradient in the text at the bottom and the purple of the main character, but the blues are still off and on the rear the white border is still present around the game screenshots.

If that $900 copy is indeed a fake, it's a 100% perfect reproduction of the original, at least from what we can see in the pics provided anyhow. As odd as it sounds, I think it's more likely to be real than a perfectly reproduced fake.

I might take some scans/photos of the most recent fake version, as things have changed a little and the info and comparison shots between the fake and real copies is now outdated.

Here are some comparison shots between the old fake, new fake and real Sapphire game.

- Top pic is old fake
- Middle pic is new fake
- Bottom pic is real

Unfortunately my scanner is offline atm, so the 'new fake' shots were taken via a crappy digital camera. Should be good enough to spot the most differences though.

I have a new Sapphire bootleg guide in the works that will compare in detail both fakes and the real deal.

Here are some comparison shots between the old fake, new fake and real Sapphire game.

If I'm looking at it right, the new fake logo is now the right color (instead of too orange on top) but her face is now too orange?

and also, "HCD5030" on the lower right rear.

This has probably been addressed at some point, and I'm sure there's a variety of opinions on this, but it would have been a whole lot simpler if the guy had put "reproduction copy" somewhere small on the back or cover of the repro. Yeah, it would look bad but would stop a lot of people trying to sell fakes as real copies (not saying the one on eBay is fake, but it sure it overpriced...).

Err, i don't mean to offend anybody (maybe the guy selling these is a long term supporter of the TG16\PCE scene or whatever and is trying to help out guys newer to the PCE scene?) but what's the legitimacy of these supposed 25th anniversary releases? Are these just perfect copies of the original made via scanned box art and so on?

IE: is this copy of Saphire not much different then the copies that someone was selling on the forums here a few years ago? (can't remember who it was, but i think he stumbled upon 50+ copies of a duped Saphire but only sold them for $20 or something here...) sorry guys, haven't been around lately so can't quite recall  #-o

The Sapphires given away for free here came from this same guy. I had known about him for a while before contacting him about getting a complete Sapphire bootie, then passed the word on to BlueBMW who ordered a ton of loose discs which he so graciously distributed here.

I can't comment on his techniques.
