Interesting, most of the ones I've seen came with Blazing Lazers. I'm guessing it was jewel case, manual and card only just like the Blazing Lazer packed systems?

Good god.... This is on my projects to do list... Come up with a kit I would give out to the f-eBay crew that would be a mock of this VG bullshit...it would have stickers ( of coarse :P) and some sealable freezer bags for your video game freshness... :P. hope to have them late this fall as this VG stuff really is laughable.

wow BT - you spend 1200 on a TG+CD, 400 for TG-16?  when was this?

Quote
The reverse has happened to the TG versions now though.  i think back then no one wanted US version of system card 3.0s.. and Ys were easily had for $15.. now people are hoarding these like no tomorrow.   Ys I understand, it's the best game ever made imo, but US system card 3?  WTF..

man, can you guys believe the late nineties is now already like 15 years ago??  fock time flies!!  what a trip down memory lane.

I agree that games in general are way cheaper abd I am happy as a buyer, but I ron't look at Turbo stuff as being the reverse. I paid $60 - $70 for games like JJ & Jeff, Tiger Road, Ninja Spirit, Bonk's Revenge, etc, $400 for a TG-16, $550 for a Turbo Express, $1200+ fir a Turbo CD, $100 - $159 a pop for games like Golden Axe, Side Arms Special, Super Darius, Cyber City OEDO 808, etc. I was happy with most of my purchases then and the deals today are unbelieveable.

IIRC:

I think that Black_Tiger got slammed with higher prices/fees since he lives in the the (Not So) Great North. Canada.

However, later (if I'm not mistaken) he also has (had?) amazing local import shops that offered a wealth of games for decent prices. So, he initially got screwed on brand-new retail items, but then later reaped the gems from a thriving import market.

I'm writing his biography in the next few months. Is there anything else you want to know?

LOL. haha.  Can it be called VD instead of VG?

BT: Look at how the fake SFII' carts instantly sold out and were immediately listed on eBay before the flippers even took possession. Look at Nintendo's overpriced bricks. Look at the typical forum discussions elsewhere.

No, I never heard of jewel cases or manuals being included for years and think that sellers are just tossing them in. I think that there was no official pack-in for system, only some OEM games that were or were not randomly packed with these test market units. I believe that all those "NOS" card-only listings on eBay were actually intended for promotional use. My game was packed underneath the console and came with photocopies of the manual.

You know, for a brand new TG16 I'd think it would have been much much more than that.

I guess you could justify it that way, but there are a few others up recently that claim to be new for around the $200-$250, While this is the nicests I've seen, and I'm sure whoever buys it will go the VG route.  I can't justify the idea of this thing being worth $500 to sit on a shelf.

I hope someone around here will snag it to save it from a VGA'd future. That puppy needs to be played! It doesn't need to spend its life on a shelf.

Isn't it actually worse for these things to be sitting around all these years and never turned on?

I know others share this hatred. But I really Really hate Video Game Quality, basically they say hmmm box is okay, artwork is okay, slap an acrylic case around it, put it in a plastic bag and say it's collectable.  thier qualifications are being into video games since the 80's.  BY THAT STANDARD most of us are qualified to grade video games.  ALL we need is some plastic and a grading system.

I just don't get it.  I never fully understood it with trading cards either.  IDK just seems like it takes the fun out of it. I can see it from the other side, I understand the thrill of collecting, however it's just not the same as getting several of your buds together in a basement growing up and playing bomberman, goldeneye, ect.  or meeting at something octurbofest, to actually play games.

$120 for Final Zone II

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Final-Zone-II-2-NEC-TurboGrafx-16-CD-Turbo-Grafx-Pristine-Mint-COMPLETE-/261079226380?pt=Video_Games_Games&hash=item3cc988d80c

Anybody else receive a brand new copy with a giant UPC sticker on the back?

"EVERYTHING IS IN PRISTINE/MINT CONDITION" = "Original jewel case does have minor flaws ( a few minor scratches) and minor usage on the tab piece." + huge ugly sticker on case.

Not on FZII or any other title bought new, not on the case anyhow.  I have, however, bought a few (both boxed and later unboxed titles) that had stickers on the outer shrinkwrap.
U.S. Collection: 98% complete    157/161 titles
