Sounds like a jackass to me. I wouldn't pay nowhere near $251 for it and I hope people are smart enough to do the same.

That's getting closer to what I'd pay for it... much closer than the $500-600 that some have sold for anyway.   8-[

Really? He ended the auction early, totally screwing the $500 snipers that were probably waiting till the last second. (And, in someways, he screwed himself out of $300 possible more dollars.)

You are calling him a jackass for selling it early, for a lower price than he would have gotten, on bids that were placed by the buyers, not the seller. The price of $251 was set by the BUYERS, not the seller.

Jeez. Common sense.

No common sense would be selling it on these forums without the gouged price, not on ebay. There is a reason why we have a f*ck ebay club.

Wait, it is common sense to sell it for less than he is able to get for it? And that is common sense because you have a club? Your logic is masterful. I HAVE A CLUB! SELL ME TURBOGRAFX STUFF FOR CHEAP! OTHERWISE I WILL CALL YOU A JACKASS AND WHINE ABOUT PRICES!

Also, "gouging."

THE SELLER PRICES. Not the buyers in an open auction, the seller.  The seller started the item (i.e. priced the item) at $10. The rest of the price determination was done by buyers. But, please, continue to use words wrong. Its amusing.

Great. An internet troll explaining the definition of "price." I'm still confused. If only he'd given a link to wikipedia!

Ah, yay, the angry short man shows up! You fail at reading comprehension. Here, I'll help you out. Here is the definition of price.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Price

And, while we are in the mood to define things, lets put on some mood music, and define internet troll.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_troll

I'm not a troll, just because I show the silliness of the f*ck Ebay club. You seem to be the one to get inflammatory, and yet I'm the troll.

Apparently you're too stupid to understand that we (the patrons of this thread) consider self-imposed gouging to be gouging by virtue of the buyer having based his/her approximation of value on never sold BINs, shill bid inflated end values, or some other foolish metric.  Whether you agree with this idea or not is entirely irrelevant, as this is my goddamn thread and I get to make the rules.

You don't like it?  Then get the f*ck out and start your own thread about how there's no such thing as gouging.

How many times must I say this?!?

Oh man, I'm new here and not looking to make enemies...

Bravo, you're a gouger; and I don't give a hoot about your reasoning, as everyone has bills to pay.  We don't need another guy telling us that it's all on the buyer's shoulders and that there's no such thing as gouging, so please take it elsewhere.

No thanks. Until someone with authority actually speaks, I'll continue to point out the stupidity of terms like "self-gouging," and the blatant hypocrisy in this thread. Last I checked, you weren't king of this forum, and general forum etiquette does not say that "the topic starter gets to dictate exactly what is posted in an open thread." You sound like a petulant child, and because he isn't getting his way, will pack up his toys and take them home so the other children can't play with them. Stop acting like you own this thread, because you don't.

Also, I think it is necessary for a sane voice to be in here, because there seems to be a handful of users that can only can cuss and name call at newbies, which is not good for any forum. I doubt the actual moderators and owners want the old timers constantly screaming at new members of the community, scaring them off.

nullity, don't worry, this juvenile "MY THREAD MY THREAD" activity is not an indicator of normal activity here, and I've had some great interactions with people here who don't act this way. Not surprisingly, the handful of users who piss and moan about "gougers" are also the ones jumping on every deal, and not offering any of their own.

Whatever happened to play games just to play games? $200+ for a game that I can just burn or play on a emulator is just insane. Especially considering I remember seeing it on Turbo Zone Direct for $30 brand new not even 15 years ago. Hell GameDude doesn't even have it for that much (although they probably don't have it in stock). http://www.gamedude.com/turbog.html

So you're going to continue to flout the rules and go off topic?  This thread is for the posting and discussion of eBay auctions, not for discussion of whether or not gouging exists.

And as the thread starter, I do think there's some responsibility to try to keep the topic from getting out of hand; it's not like anyone else is going to do it for me.

We keep hearing this from whiny douchebags like you, but it's patently false.  The truth of the matter is that the vast majority of new users come in and feel welcome - it's just the mouthy clowns like you than come in and tell everyone to change that cry when nobody wants to be their friend or wants to sell them anything.

Sure, chief.  How many games have you sold here for below eBay pricing or given away for free?  Zero?

BigusSchmuckus called the auction a gouge. I pointed out two ways that classification was false, both by the seller's action, as well as the very definition of gouging. I don't see how that can be classified as anything other than a discussion of an ebay auction. You somehow turned it into the meta-discussion of gouging. Apparently, the only thing on-topic to you is posts that agree with your worldly perspective. Sorry, but once again, you fail at definitions.

#1, it is deliciously ironic you claim I'm the rule violator. Here, let me quote a rule for you.

Quote
Foul language in the form of insults directed towards other forum members may result in a ban.

You've now called me a "whiny douchebag," repeatedly called me "clown" and nullify a "gouger." Oh, and your buddy vestcoat called me a "dickbag." You want to talk rules? How about having a conversation without resorting to cutesy insults?

#2, the only whining I see is coming from you, regarding the price of ebay items.

#3, I have not had any problems with people unwilling selling me things here. Like I said, I've had wonderful interactions here, and none of them are from people who are members of your anti-ebay club. Quit making stuff up to support your argument.

Sure, chief.  How many games have you sold here for below eBay pricing or given away for free?  Zero?

Zero, but I'm also not the one whining about ebay gougers, and how everything should be sold here, cheaply. You missed the point of this argument.

There is sort of a conflict here... Like you said, if it were just about playing games, people could burn them, or use the cool-as-hell turbo everdrive. The people paying $200 for a CD place a huge amount of value on having the original media. Like you said, if it were just about playing the game, having the original media wouldn't matter.

This is what I don't understand - people realize that any TG16 game can now easily be played, on the original hardware, with minimal fuss or investment. Thus, it is really just to people who value having an original copy of a game, which, no matter how you look at it, is collecting. Anyone here who wants an original copy of magical chase on some level values the media. It just comes down to a debate of how much you think it is worth, not whether or not it does have intrinsic value.

you guys are rediculous on so many levels complaining like this.  Your mad because DH sells for 5-600 on ebay then when someone ends it early so that it only sells for 250. you cry just as much.  its even more funny on a level you dont realize yet.
Games currently in play:
PS3: COD Ghosts

And what's funnier is there's no way that seller ended his auction of his first copy of DH early at 250.  He's almost certainly lying (and a jerk for calling everyone bidding "fools") because someone made him an offer he took.
