Comrade, I genuinely feel that there are more important things to be worried about.

You're right esteban.

eBay, on the other hand, is not worthy of your time, tears or heart. Sure, it is a convenient marketplace. But there is a price for this convenience—your soul.

I have been using ebay since the late 90s, long before buying/collecting old retro games was the cool thing to do, before PayPal, before other members' usernames were hidden from each other, etc.  And before these forums were around.  I still feel a sense of community there as well, and try to stick up for it when everyone else likes to tear it down (and then still use it).

I knew I would get some grief by speaking up (I even waited a day before posting), but galam's attempt at lulz may come back to bite him in the ass.  The more I think about the listing, the more I can't help but feel like he is just showboating a rare game, dangling a carrot out there for eBayers saying "You want this - I know you do, but you can't have it, not even for ten thousand dollars".  But that gets into personal attack territory that I'm desperately trying to avoid because I know galam is a good guy.  One of the best here.

That is all, comrades, love you all!

AHHH, you know full-well that the eBay of today is quite different (and worse) than the eBay of yesteryear (I am  stevek666 on eBay...it was my second account...I started using eBay shortly after it started).

I believe that we, the older folks, are the ones who are the harshest critics of eBay because we actually experienced all the changes (there have many "eras" already).

Also, gag listings on eBay are OLD, OLD NEWS.

SPOILER: I don't want to ruin things for you, but there are gag reviews on amazon.com, too! Some of them are absolutely hilarious!

Glazball, I don't really want to change your views. I'm happy you are here and I always liked your avatar (oddly, that's how I remember you). Basically, what I'm saying is: let's hug and read some hilarious gag reviews on amazon.com:

I still think there is sand in your lady parts.

back on topic, I found a seller I want to kick in the nuts. Here is a highlight from his illustrious history.

bought:
http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=290907174335&globalID=EBAY-FR&alt=web

sold:
http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=271496622314&alt=web

he's also flipping sealed games from diskounters for a measly $10 profit. I'd buy up diskounter's entire stock if i had the dough just to keep it out of this a$$hole's hands.

Edit:  ok, I just realized who this is and he is not an a$$hole nor would I kick him in the nuts. In fact he strikes me as a Robin Hood type all things considered. Conflicting feelings... dichotomy... dissonance... All I'm certain of is that I'm jealous of the sealed Jack Nicklaus CD for $30ish USD shipped!

That's me.  Yes I did buy that CD for nothing and flip it.  I had no intentions of doing so but idiots were paying mint money for that golf game so I took advantage of it.  As for the other diskounter stuff, I bought one for me, one to give away for free here and I'm just attempting to make a buck or two so I can give away other free sealed games here later.

Hence the Robin Hood thing.  it looked bad on the surface until I realized it was you just offsetting all the freebies you've given away. Sorry for singling you out before I realized who you were.  I'm still jealous of the golf game find. ( :

I debated over even selling it but it was too good of a deal to pass up.  I cold have probably gotten even more for it as it sold in about 3 minutes.

Variants are "Limited Editions".

Do you know the origin of the two different spine colors?  The pink one (which I think looks quite a bit nicer!) does seem to be the more common variant.  This might be stretching, but perhaps the seller meant "limited edition" in the most literal sense--in that it's the more limited of the two "editions"?
I'm not sorry about this, as I'm not sorry about ANY attack by the goverrats.

They're reprints, Lochlan, like a "greatest hits" version.

Boo-urns on jelloslug for gouging.

I see glazball is still whining.  On the off chance that someone buys one of his joke auction, he can easily cancel the sale.  Sheesh, get a funny bone.

Lol...

You can go buy him a beer for me. How about that?

While the flipping is somewhat contributing to the trend of increasing prices, he is in essence taking money from collectards in order to hook up community members with free games while also building his own collection.  The turbokarma yin & yang is in harmony here.  At most, you can give him a playful slap on the ass and say "that's from HailingTheThings" as punishment for flipping my Jack Nicklaus CD that should have been mine if only i'd seen it first.

Oh and FYI: the total for the game shipped from France was $17.72

On second thought, go ahead and kick him in the nuts, ToyMachine.

I also sold an empty Earthbound box that I found in my moms attic for $250.  I don't even remember buying that game...
