Just tried the following process on my Japanese copy - worked fine  - plus once you have the text in English, you can see an option for the voices to be in English too...

(from https://iwasateenagepcenginefan.wordpress.com/2011/02/16/so-uh-how-do-i-play-j-b-harold-murder-club-in-english/ )

1) Start the game. You’re at the screen where the woman says, “Hi, JB!” Press Button I to bring up a menu with five commands.

2) You want NONE of those commands. Press right on the D-pad to get to a sixth command. Select this one.

3) Now you’re at a screen with a gun. Press button I to bring up a menu with five commands.

4) You want NONE of those commands. Press right on the D-pad to get to two more commands. Select the top one.

5) Two more commands come up. Pick the bottom one.

6) The menu disappears. Press button I to bring it up again and voila! English text.

Holy hell that's convoluted.

Yeah, but once it is in English and you see what the menu options are, it makes sense...

Thank you!  That certainly gives me the option to pick up the import now.  Not only do I love the music (I think there was a track or two on the extra music disc that came with UY) and am a fan of detective stories, JB Harold's name is actually really similar to my own.  That's always been a cool thing to me.  Imma price ebay now.  Unless somebody here has one for sale...

Hurry guys, hit those eBay "Report Item" links on Tobiass' behalf! ;)

http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Akumajo-Dracula-X-Rondo-of-Blood-Deluxe-Edition-PC-Engine-Castlevania-Japan-/121772174395?&_trksid=p2056016.m2516.l5255

We got a Tobias bootleg special of Dracula X with at least 57 bids going, 4 days left!

The seller is located in Toyko, Japan, so Tobias has an approved contact there or it just happened to be the case it was a reseller that bought one off him ?? Whatever the case, I went the full distance and reported it as a copyright violation in the selections and added comment text that it's a bootleg, etc.

Anyone have Konami's email? They used to be hawks about this sort of thing.

I don't think Konami cares about anything anymore.
