It really is sad how the mighty have fallen. I was playing some snes and genesis games yesterday and after about 4 hours of playing I realized that every game I played or considered playing was Konami.

Zombies ate my neighbors, contra hard corps, castlevania bloodlines, sunset riders.

I've little doubt Tobias will include a 'free' translated disc with every purchase (whether you ask for it or not), but why pay 99 euros for one brand new (with Force Gear too) when you can pay more than twice as much for a used copy?  f*cking morons.  ](*,)

Yeah, Konami was one of my favorite companies growing up to where it was on a special support list of mine (as was SquareSoft and Capcom), so if saw a game by them on the store shelf, I'd buy it even though in most cases I was backlogged by tons of other games - having put gaming on standby in my life - and it'd be years before I'd get around to playing much of anything... I just wanted to make sure my dollars counted in support of the industry.

So yeah, if you look at my collection of originals, you'll see mostly games made by SquareSoft, Capcom, Konami, and then Sony for PS1/PS2 (and one PS3, MetalGearSolid 4) on down to others like Nintendo for the NES/SNES, etc.. Another company was Working Designs while they were still making PS1 games. I had picked up Arc the Lad collection from Target for $79.99 as one of the final ones, the 2nd time I had spent that much on a game, the first being Dracula X (Konami) from an import shop whose number I got off the back of an EGM magazine...

Well, all good things... Heh, this tangent reminded me of the others who came and went far quicker too like SunSoft and Quintet (founded by the Ys/Adol creator!), etc. Those were great losses! ANYWAY!

Konami will always be one of my favorite game companies.  The past decade though it seemed like they were only a publisher with no in-house game studios anymore.  Even japanese games were being dev'd internationally.  Almost the only reason i liked the snes was because of Konami.

I reported it, but I don't think I've ever seen ebay take one down for being counterfeit.

The fact its going strong over $200 is pretty crazy. If they don't take it down, I'm willing to bet it will probably go for over $300. These people are really really dumb.

Great story, and I'm sure there are countless people that hold similar opinions as us. It seems like most companies just don't give a shit about much anymore, it just seems like Konami has really stepped up their game in this department unfortunately.

They really should've (and seems like they could've) waited a bit for all this shakeup stuff, i.e. excising Hideo Kojima's name, pronouncements about more focus on mobile or gambling games, fitness centers, etc. until AFTER Metal Gear Solid V got out the door... Very bad PR move. Maybe this way though did cause more net positive sales since we've essentially learned this will be Kojima's last game with Konami after working there for 30 years, but on the flipside, I think with all the souring it caused at the same time, it could very well have negatively affected sales... I dunno. :/

Interesting that his story made Forbes and Telegraph!

Hurry guys, hit those eBay "Report Item" links on Tobiass' behalf! ;)

http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Akumajo-Dracula-X-Rondo-of-Blood-Deluxe-Edition-PC-Engine-Castlevania-Japan-/121772174395?&_trksid=p2056016.m2516.l5255

We got a Tobias bootleg special of Dracula X with at least 57 bids going, 4 days left!

The seller is located in Toyko, Japan, so Tobias has an approved contact there or it just happened to be the case it was a reseller that bought one off him ?? Whatever the case, I went the full distance and reported it as a copyright violation in the selections and added comment text that it's a bootleg, etc.

Reported.  If it's clearly listed as a bootleg or repro I usually turn a blind eye, but this is ridiculous.  I can't even believe how many people have bid on this thing.

If they dont pull it soon then it might just have to be bid up to a million to force their hand.
