Deep Blue is an atmospherically pleasing game, but the gameplay sucks.  I wouldn't mind watching someone good play, I just don't wanna play it.

Not a fan of Deep Blue, but I still haven't given it a proper run-through. I do plan on picking it up sometime soon to just clear it for the sake of it, and so I can actually legitimatly comment on it.

Well, once you finish the first 8 stages in Rtype the game loops over on a higher difficulty. It finally ends after 16 stages.

Ah, I'm not a fan of looping.  I usually just shut the game off at that point, figuring it'll probably loop forever or that the next ending won't be any different.  I'm in it for the fun, not the high score.  Once I've seen the ending, I'm satisfied with my playthrough.  But in R-Type, I shut the game off when I complete level 4 because those last 4 levels are very boring.  I've beaten it, but the fun part is only in the first half of the game.  I'd love a PC Engine R-Type 1 card.  The R-Type 2 cards should all be burned... how does that work anyway?  Play through part 1, does it prompt you to put in card 2 (or at least put a save file or give a password or some such)?  Then you beat card 2... does it prompt you to put in card 1 for the loop?  I only remember the SMS version looping.

The North American version has all 8 stages in it just like the arcade original so I go by that edition and not the 2 PCE cards.

Here is a video of me just trying to play it again but I don't get too far:

He mentioned the health regeneration strategy in his video.

Yeah, in the middle of the first stage I mentioned that strategy as well. Sadly you must really have to study the patterns to successfully avoid certain enemies and I hate the idea of not being able to shoot IN A GODDAMN SHOOTER!!

In my opinion it is the worst shooter for the PCE/Turbografx-16.

I'll agree that it's the most boring of TG-16 shooters, but the PCE has quite a few shooters that are far worse (i.e. Toilet Kids).

On PCE if you clear Part 1 the game gives you a password to use with Part 2.  It actually makes the 2nd half a lot easier since once you've got the password, you can always start at Stage 5 with full power.  You don't have to go back to stage 1 everytime.

In R-Type the 2nd loop is just for score.  But in a few games, the 2nd loop is worth doing.  For example in Last Resort, the stage 3 boss has a completely new attack style and animation that only happens on the 2nd loop.

Man! There is another reason I need to spend the money on Last Resort for the Neo Geo.
