Good idea. I use one of two myself, either a 36 inch Sony Wega circa 1999 or a Samsung 32 inch CRT/HDTV that displays up to 720p/1080i. The old Commodore monitors are a really good idea. I have a couple of spares myself...hmmmm....

27" Sony Trinitron WEGA SD CRT in my bedroom and a 36" Toshiba HD CRT in the living room. The Toshiba is nice for HD gaming, though it could a little better. It is real nice for 480p support on the GC, PS2, Xbox and DVDs. Now that I have a PS3 I would prefer a big LCD in the living room for Blu-ray movies. I was working on getting one, but my parents friends gave me the Toshiba HDTV. Why spend the money  :) .

For retrogaming you can't go wrong with a nice CRT with a Digital Comb Filter built in. Compared to regular CRTs it makes composite almost look like S-video (it does wonders for the NES), makes S-video look closer to component video and component video looks just great. It also helps to learn the service mode codes on these things as many consoles over the years tend to off-center the picture.

I have 32" Sony Bravia LCD XBR9 that my Turbo Duo is hooked up to.  I miss the scan-lines, but I find the picture clear.  Good thing the TUrbo Duo never had a light gun, or else I wood get depressed.  I would get a nice flatscreen crt to play my light gun games.
Let the old mix with the new.

I use a JVC Flat Tube TV. I try to use an older TV if I can for older games. Either that, or I'll use my 32" Vizio Razor LED TV.....
