Looking for a US Turbo Duo in box with a PC Engine converter
« on: January 02, 2011, 07:19:41 PM »
Hey guys! Found this forum just before christmas and I absolutely love reading all about the PC Engine/Turbo Grafx.

Anyways, I´m currently looking for a US Turbo Duo in box if any of you have one that you want to sell? I also want to pick up a converter for the system, so I can play my PC Engine HUcard games on the system. See link below. The one I want is the one to the left.

Please get back to me if you guys can help me out.

Why not go for a PC Engine Duo-r or rx?  System cards are cheaper and many of the best hucard games are cheaper.  You can always have it region modded by someone here (ahem) and play your US stuff...

I think most people are afraid of the japanese language. This fear is why US games are so much more in price.

[Mon 16:27] <BlueBMW> i wouldnt sell an unmolested duo hehe.  I molest the crap outta of em before they leave me

You could buy a fully tricked out Duo R (s-video, region hack, Arcade Card) for what a US Duo and that converter go for. Hell, you might even be able to get two of them. You'd have something much better for much less.

Welcome to the forum man.  I agree the better way to go is with a duo-r or rx and get it modded.  Several guys on this forum perform the mod on the cheap.

Good luck!

Thanks for all your answers, guys! Really nice of you!

Tatsujin, impressive that you recognized MacReady from "The Thing", love it! My absolutely favorite movie of all time!! And yes, Arctic is really badass right now=)

SignOfZeta, a fully tricked out Duo R (s-video, region hack, Arcade Card) you say, and where can I find one of these? Ebay?

MotherGunner, okey so if I buy a Duo-r or rx, I´ll just post a tread here in the forums to maybe get some help with the mod. By the way, what´s the differens between the -r and the -rx?

Thanks again, guys!!

hardware wise nothing except that when they first came out back in the day the rx came with a 6 button controller and a lower price tag although today the rx usually goes for more money than the r.

You'll have to find the specifics of that yourself. You can get the stock console from eBay, but I'd recommend contacting one of the forum members here who does this work and seeing if he has something ready to go, or if he wants you to find the system first and have it sent to him, etc. It helps to have a plan when shipping is so expensive.

Check with D-lite here in the forums.  This is his site, http://multimods.com/  I have recently been doing business with him, and he is a pretty cool guy.  Drop him an email from his site, and he will get back to ya.  Price is reasonable as well.  His site has not been updated in a few, but he is still there working on modding/refurbishing systems.  Just bought a modded Duo-R, with RCA jacks and LEDs.  I was pleased with the price.  Look into it.  :)
