What kind of stuff got censored in the US Splatterhouse release? It doesnt really bother me if its just blood/gore and language that get censored.

I've never heard of Shockman, but I love Mega Man so I'm definitely gonna check out some videos of that one and it might be the game I get this year.

Shockman is not in the same league as Mega Man, and is one of the more expensive hu games.  If you are only getting one game, I wouldn't start with that one.

Shockman is expensive? I dont like the game much at all. Kinda corny.

I do not understand the word "shmup."
But my favorite genre on PCE is shooting games.
Don't have a fave, but I love Sylphia. ;)

I love Mega Man enough that even sub-par Mega Man clones are better than most games to me. I still need to look into a few more games that have been recommended, but this one is leading the pack so far. I also dont have a problem knocking off the pricier games first. Makes finishing up a collection go that much quicker.

What kind of stuff got censored in the US Splatterhouse release?

The terror mask is red instead of white, the crosses and altar were removed from the end of level four to make it look less like a church, the same stage's boss was changed from an upside down cross to a portrait of Sarah Palin, and the grave at the end boss is marked by a headstone instead of a wooden cross.

Someone asked which games I already had. Right now I've only got Ordyne,

Oh, my. It's only uphill from here. What a horrible game to start a collection on.

Also, I wouldn't consider Shockman a MegaMan clone at all. At first glance it might appear so-- but you have to be conscious of the rest of the series and the backstory. The level design is not MegaMan-esque at all. Plus, there is more to the gameplay than first meets the eye... One other note: Shockman [US] is actually the second episode in a trilogy (part 1 and 3 are JP-only).

Thats why I like to collect and play everything myself. I've heard Ordyne was bad, but I actually like it a lot. Played through it multiple times even beat it with the girl to get the "true" ending.

Thanks for pointing out the level design differences from Sparkman to Mega Man. That was definitely one of the best parts about Mega Man.

I don't personal own the game but I know it has some shoot'em up levels too.
