I agree. That d-pad kills an otherwise fantastic pad. I don't actually have an RX pad, but I have an FX pad which is the same thing. I absolutely love the design. But that d-pad.... ugh.

Oh that's a shame they look a helluva lot more comfortable than the avenue 6 pads.... is there any possibility of swapping out the  d-pad's rubber membrane with say a 2 button controller? I am of course assuming it's the rubber membrane that's making it stiff.

It's not just like it, it's the exact same pad. Only the connector on the end of the cable is different.

The Ave 6. pad is deceiving-- don't judge a book by its cover, as cliched as that sounds. It runs circles around the RX/FX pad.

Not sure... Never tried it. The key would be to open up a RX pad and an FX pad and see what's going on inside.

Anyone ever use the Avenue 6 pad as their everyday pad?

It's a decent pad enough, but I find the positioning of buttons I & II (the default buttons used for 90%+ of PCE games) to be a little awkward -- it's a little too close to the corner of the pad, and my thumb doesn't feel too natural sitting in that position.

I find myself going back to the Turbo Duo pad, which is slightly wider than the PCE pads, as the default PCE/TG16 pad of choice.

Anyway, bitch, bitch, bitch -- the ave 6 pad is still pretty decent.  It's just not my default pad of choice.

The RX pad clearly looks the best, though.  :?
