Where does the border of your signature GIF come from, Paul? Looks like Gate of Thunder.

Ding! Correct.

Now can you name the games that the pics are from?

Hehe, my pleasure.

Gate of Thunder, Tengai Makyou II (This could be Kabuki Fuun Den, but I swear that shot is from Kabuki's TMII opening), Ai Cho Aniki, Cho Aniki, and I can't make out what the game is with the ship flying away from an explosion, but I am going to make a guess and say Avenger. Oh and that little cave kid with the huge head is from Bonk's Revenge of course ;) . (Well maybe Big Adventure technically).

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

Almost right:
It IS Kabuki Fuun Den and both are from Ai Cho Aniki. Avenger, correct.

And PC Kid 2.

Oh wow, that's right that both of them are from Ai Cho Aniki! I am damn surprised I got Avenger correct and I only guessed that because I saw a cinema screen shot for it before and it had similar style.
