The designers of the PC-FX figured that quality fmv was better than real-time 3D. So here is a pretty fair comparison of what is pretty much the highest quality fmv for PC-FX and Saturn-
PC-FX fmv VS Saturn fmv -direct downloadSomething to take into consideration, is that the advertise trailer for TM:TAIV appears to suffer from the degradation of the edited original video. The clips which appear in the trailer look better in-game. But this is the best footage to compare two similarly themed games with. I don't have time to dig up back-up Saturn carts, looking for a save file at the end of TM:TAIV, just to record the one ending clip that might have been best suited for this comparison.
Also, Kakutoden's footage looks as though the source material was blurrier and it might have been shot on film while TM:TAIV might have shot straight to video or have been rendered on a computer first.
I used a brand new capture card and new editing software for the first time. It'll be a while before I figure out how to fine tune them. But this large video does retain the quality pretty well all things considered.
Both games were recorded from using S-Video.
