I am not going to even bother looking at what transpired in this thread since I last checked it (when there were about 8-10 posts).

I see he has posted it on ebay, for a huge mark-up tho.  If it doesnt sell, maybe he will consider my offer.
http://cgi.ebay.com/Beyond-Shadowgate-TurboGrafx-CD-DUO-COMPLETE-MINT_W0QQitemZ290540822904QQcategoryZ139973QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp5197.m7QQ_trkparmsZalgo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D5%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D7473843252976076980

Well, it sold for $275 BIN in about 12 hours and Enix is now getting friendly with folks on the "f*ck ebay club" thread.  Biggest hypocrisy I've seen since roy started "gouging much."

Actually, dickface, if you took the time and effort that you spend on stalking me and looked at the timestamps, I posted in the ebay forum long before I made the auction....but I'm sitting $275 heavier in my pocket, so suck a cock and f*ck you, ya shit eating horsef*ck penis mongrel.

WTH??  You know, I am like not even 3 hours from this guy.  I think I may take a trip.  That was just uncalled for.  A mod should consider deleting this entire thread.  It makes the forum look bad..  :(

Nnooooooooooooooooooooooo.

If we delete the thread then we'd just be Roy Vegas-ing ourselves.

Since you weren't here for that, I'll explain:

A guy named Roy Vegas started a thread called "Gouging Much?" where he and others posted links to eBay for TG-16 item auctions with very high BINs, or just game related rip-offs in general. This thread was very popular but after some time we all learned that Roy Vegas himself was part of the problem. Taking stuff he got here for reasonable prices and selling it to eBay people at insane markups, including essentially hand-made LE copies of Insanity Arkhan sent him for cheap.

Now, for some retarded reason it is possible on this forum to have semi-mod powers over your own threads.* That is, you can delete them once you made them. This takes out the entire thread and everything everyone posted to it. Of course this is what Roy Vegas did. By deleting the thread we not only lost all the good info there, but we also lost most of the story of how he is a huge hypocritical capitalistic a$$hole who was doing the very thing he was complaining about when he started the thread.

Roy was somewhat smart about his dicketry. He didn't do stupid shit and get banned, and he didn't "leave" in a huff. He kept his account going so he could a) destroy the evidence b) hang around and act like a decent person for a while in hopes will forget what a dick he is. If you mention what a dick he is in a thread (an opportunity several of us never miss) he acts all wounded and innocent. He has covered his tracks completely except for what is now 2nd hand anecdotal evidence. The whole thing is similar to Donald Rumsfeld going on TV a lot these days saying "golly gee" and all that in an effort to make us forget about the period, not so long ago, when we couldn't decide if he was more evil or more stupid.

If we delete this thread, we're doing this jerk a favor. He'll just tell everyone at other forums that we are cheap a$$holes that don't understand fair market value, and there won't be any reason to disbelieve him since we deleted the thread. There is a (autobiographical!) chapter in the book of PC Engine about this guy proving what an a$$hole he is, we would be foolish to rip it out.

If you are worried about making the forum look bad, I would refrain from suggesting you'd visit people in person on less than friendly terms.

* BTW, this is BS, IMO. I've actually had a guy deliberately misquote me in another thread, and then delete the thread that the original, un-doctored quote came from (which he could do since he created it) so that his version of what I said was the only thing left. The offending a$$hole has since gone (banned or "left" or some shit, I don't know) but I wouldn't be surprised to see it again.

Thank you for that, Zeta. I was wondering why people were hating on RoyVegas, because, personally, I didnt have a problem with him.

I was also MIA during the period where he exploited folks.

On a final note, I think that deleting threads is usually a bad idea: we lose evidence, but we also lose any useful comments/contributions of others.

I have tried to find old threads (for useful information), only to fond that they have been deleted. SO INFURIATING, especially when you think about what has been lost needlessly. One click of a button erases the historical record, literally.

I'd like to see the user delete function removed as well.  I was also absent when "gouging much" went down and have been hoping it would turn up on the Wayback Machine after the usual six-month lag so I could read the juicy bits.  Unfortunately, the Wayback Machine doesn't even have anything from 2010 yet and they only archive about 30 pages each hit anyway, so it's unlikely we'll ever see the thread again.  The incomplete google cache is now gone as well.

Going back to roy, buying an artist/programmer's work at a community discount and attempting to not only profit on it but also draw sales away from Arkhan's own DIY marketing (when he has no hope of ever recouping the year he sunk into making the game) is absolutely despicable.  I can't believe this guy still has an account.  Let us also not forget the MC debacle and rampant price inflating in general

Finally, this thread is great.  enix really let me have it in that last post after I compiled all his potty mouthing.  I'd like to remember it.  It's also a amusing that a thread called "stinking pile", started by somebody who's no longer a member, continues to top the sales forum while honest friends and gamers struggle to legitimately buy and sell games.   :)

This thread will not be deleted, that's for sure, now that homeboy is gone.

The problem with the user delete function is this: users are allowed to delete their own posts. The issue arises when the post being deleted happens to be the first post in a thread. If that happens, in deleting the post the forum software also removes the pointer to the thread since the first post contains this pointer. All the remaining messages in the thread are now linked to a pointer that no longer exists. So they vanish.

I don't really think turning off users' ability to delete their own messages is the right solution, but it really is an all or nothing issue. The only way around the problem would be for me or another mod or admin to merge a thread in question into a new thread with a first post authored by someone else (preferably a mod or admin).

The problem there is, these things usually come to a boil pretty quickly and have the potential to vanish (see the original gouging thread) before anyone has a chance to perform an act of preservation.

As for Roy.... Aside from being an incredible douchebag, he hasn't ever really DONE anything to break the rules here. It could be argued he should be banned on principle alone, but I'll let Aaron make that call.

If we got rid of delete post, but kept edit post, you would essentially allow the user to delete their own posts.  They could delete what they say down to nothing.  It seems like that would be more appropriate?

Yeah, being able to edit your own posts with no time limit is already something you can't do on a lot of forums. I think its pretty much good enough.

Like everyone, I say some shit sometimes that's controversial or often times just f*cking stupid. The difference between me and a lot of people though (FAPJAK, Roy Vegas, etc) is that I'll either a) stand by what I said, or b) admit I f*cked up and learn from my mistake. Deleting your old posts though...I don't want to sound like a total cheese ball, but real men don't do shit like that. Admit your mistakes or stand up for your decisions. Deleting your posts is pretty close to lying, since its basically like saying "I never said that", when in fact you did.

No, I crossed everything out because you guys acted like total f*ckfaces about it...and I left my references behind on pricing because it's f*cking true, dickwad.  I only have two sources I found for pricing.  Show me somewhere else that it's listed with a price and I'd have considered adjusting.

Am I supposed to take your word when you offer me $100 for a game I clearly see listed and selling for $200+?  I mean, really?

Values on shit change.  Panzer Dragoon Saga was $40 when I bought it, but then skyrocketed to over $250...not my fault.  Should I turn it for $40 because that's what I bought PDS for a couple years ago?

If you guys must know, I bought this for $160 a couple years back, so I could only assume it went up in value as it got older and more obscure.

Ha ha LMAO over $250, for a PDS, are you effing kidding me, you are waaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy off dude. I just nabbed my 2nd copy 6 months ago, gem mint condition for only $150. And about 3 months before that I nabbed a Sega Saturn Lot for $200(on ebay mind you)that came with 16 mint games(of which included PDS, PD1 and 2,Darius Gaiden,Street Fighter Alpha 2,Nights Into Dreams,Burning Rangers,Galactic Attack and a few other decent titles to boot) the system, all hookups, 2 reg controllers, 2 guns, and a 3D controller.
