Just bought a Super CD ROM
« on: March 25, 2011, 06:04:48 AM »
Apologies if anyyone else here was bidding on it, but I just got a Super CD and Core Grafx II boxed on eBay, and I am VERY VERY HAPPY.

So now I need to get an Arcade Card Pro, and... I think that's it?  What adaptor does the Super CD take?

A Super CD system doesn't need an Arcade Card Pro but only the cheaper Arcade Card Duo.  The Pro will work, of course, but why spend the extra dough?  As for adapter... what do you mean?  The Arcade Cards are Japanese not US, so you don't need a HuCard adapter.

Oh, I thought the Duo was only for duo systems.  Hmm, I may reconsider then.

AC adaptor, I assume it's either SGX one or regular PCE?

The SCD unit should have its own AC adapter.
My SCD AC reads:
Model: PAD-125
Output DC12V 1000mA

My SGX/SCD set up requires AC adapters for both units.  When connecting the SCD to a standard PCE, you should be able to just use the SCD AC and connect the SCD's "DC output" to your PCE with the little 2" elbow cord you hopefully received.

It's for anything with the Super CD system card built in (Duos, Super-CD add-ons, and LaserActive).

I'm unsure what you're asking.  Are you asking what size tip you need?  Did your SCD not come with the power supply?  Since you're dealing with a bunch of Japanese systems I assume you already have a power converter, so what difference does being in the U.K. make?  :-k

I made a connector cable from the CD base to the SGX myself. So only a single power cable. Been running it like that for a couple of years now. No problems. AC adapter isn't the official one, but it is 12v 1A.
