Good place to buy PCE games?
« on: April 12, 2011, 03:21:38 PM »
I just got a PCE, and I am wondering if there are any good online sources for PCE games besides eBay?  Rising stuff used to have a good selection but they closed their store, and Play-Asia has next to nothing.  Where do you guys order your stuff from?

Thanks,

Chris

haha here of course! if there's a particular game you are looking for you can always just post a WTB/WTT thread another forum member would probably be willing to sell or trade with you at a resonable price.

My two biggest sources are here and Hit Japan. Wolfgames is another good source. Currently he's going out of business (again) so there is a big sale.

I just checked out Wolfgames.  Seems like he/they/whoever is trying to charge TG16 prices for PC Engine games.  $19 for Motoroader seems pretty steep.  40% off puts his games at about the right price, IMHO.

I've seen Hit Japan's auctions on eBay, and that seems like a good way to pick up some cheap commons.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like I generally don't see many games for sale here.  The FS/FT forums are fairly dead, and filled mostly with WTB threads...

Thanks for the responses so far.

If you plan on getting good deals, you can't have a "I gotta have it NOW" attitude. It's taken years to build my collection as I'll wait as long as necessary for a great deal to pop up.

Like Zeta said, this is a great place for great deals. No, they aren't posted every day. You have to watch the sale threads closely month in and month out and pounce when something good is posted up.

If you've gotta have everything RIGHT NOW, you may as well get used to paying top dollar on eBay Buy It Nows.

I don't have a "right now" attitude at all.  I've been a member here for about a year, and I'm just saying that I don't see a while lot of activity in the FS/FT forums.  PC Engine games pop up for sale on Neo-Geo about as often as they do here.  It isn't a knock on the site or anyone here.  This is a great site.  I just don't think of it as a great resource for buying stuff.  I am also not asking where the best deals are.  I don't need to pay absolute bottom dollar for things.  I just don't want to pay top dollar, either.  Fair market value is fine with me.  I was simply asking if there were any major resources that people used on the net aside from eBay.  Like an online retailer/importer.  Hit Japan (even though it is on eBay) seems like the best source that I've seen so far.

yeah for a online retailer hit japan probably has the best selection. As for here most of us don't sell games for a living we just sell dupes or games we don't play anymore so for those of us who have for sale threds here we might not update them as often as we should but if you have games you want in mind you can put out a list and I am sure alot of us would be able to take care of some of them. I know quite a few members have gotten the games they wanted that way.

Thanks.  I'll put together a WTB list and update my thread in the PC Engine FS/FT forum.  I'm not in a hurry for any particular games, but really just want some stuff to fool around with.  All of my games are TG-16, so right now I'm just burning PCE CD games.  That makes me paranoid though because some people say that it messes up the laser (although I'd like to hear a technical explanation for why that happens from someone in the know.)
