Might and Magic/Super Card question
« on: April 21, 2011, 07:22:26 AM »
In an effort to be a wonderful wife, my..er wife, bought me a very nice copy of MM3. Not knowing that I have a standard TG and CD, not a Duo, she was upset to find out that I cannot play it. I also have a copy of Sim-Earth that I cannot use but I'm not fretting over that.

I've searched and have found all sorts of answers to how I can play this game. There doesn't seem to be one clear cut answer but to buy a Super system 3 card. It seems to me that getting a region mod and then getting a PCE system card would be cheaper, but I'm looking at doing a modification to my system that, frankly, I don't want to do. Are these really my only two options?

It's basically 300 bucks to play this game...wow. Of course, I understand it might be worth it to an RPG nerd like myself, but really??

well you can always just get a Duo-R/RX  then you'll have the entire japanese hucard library available to you too!

I've given that thought, but the idea of another system is hard to envision right now. I'd like to stay true to my TG and use it, but I see the logic in an RX.

If I were you, I'd seek the services of forum member chop5. He makes these awesome hucard converters called 'Chopsados' for reasonable prices, as indicated by this thread:

That + PCE system card 3.0 card is the cheapest method period.

I personally would pay a little more and get an arcade card Pro (not Arcade Duo Card) to play every single Turbo/PCE CD based game. But there are only a handful of arcade CD games, most notably one of the best shmups: Sapphire.

SignofZeta: What a quintessentially PCEFX thread. Someone complains about nothing, multiple Bible-length posts discussing who's a bigger a$$hole follow. You're both pretty big a$$holes. Let's call it a tie.

$300? Nah. You can get a mod and a card for way less than that. PCE Super System cards are really cheap. Loose they are sometimes as low as $10, or even cheaper since they are often sold in lots on eBay with other games. Arcade Card Pros are pretty close to $50 if they have a case, but that is about the most you can spend on a card.

As for the mod itself, that depends, but there are people here who will do it for well under $100 making the total coast not even half of $300.

Well, what I mean is the cost of MM3 and a super system card 3. I'll have to consider the chopsado and an arcade card maybe. It seems that might be the cheapest and easiest route.

I got a Super System Card 3 for PCE (japanese card) for 8$.   You can get a region mod pretty easy.

or yeah, a chopsado!

I know it isn't on real hardware, but you can always do it the cheapest way and use either magic engine includes a built in system card (either buy it or use the demo) or download mednafen (free emulator) and then find the rom image of the sys card... (I know it's not the same, but it is a way to enjoy the game since both have CD support!

I personally have played the crap out of MM3, for the longest time it was the only game I played on my duo... the only downside to playing it on a duo system is that it alone uses all or nearly all of the available ram space for the save game... which is where a converter and the tennokoe bank is really nice... don't need to delete your progress to play other games... just save to the tennokoe bank and delete the ram on the duo and play something else... when you want to go back to MM3, just pop in the tennokoe and swap the saves... works out rather nicely in my opinion, but then again, you will need an import adaptor for the Tennokoe Bank Card...

I own a copy of it for my old PC and have a super nintendo version. I just want to play it on the TG. I picked up Y's on the TG despite having owned it and beaten it on the SMS years prior. There is just something about the TG that I enjoy over the other systems and, after having my wife overpay for this game, I want to be able to enjoy it somewhat as she intended for me to.
