Personally I think the Turbo Duo & original models Sega Genesis/Sega CD combo are the coolest looking.  The PCFX is damn cool too.

yeah, the original turbo duo is pretty sweet.  i like the purple on the PCE Duo more.
I remember seeing a picture in EGM some years back of the genesis 1 deck equipped with the powerbase converter, the cd player and a 32X all piled on top.  i could never decide if it was incredibly stupid or the most awesome thing i have ever seen.
it is interesting how hard one console tried to span 3 generations of video game systems (8, 16 and 32-bit).
it's too bad, i attribute the number one reason for Sega going in the hole to all of those peripherals it spent so much energy working on.  It should have just stuck to making quality games for the system at hand until it was good and ready to make a real next generation system.
I'm not a big nintendo fan these days, but think this is one thing Nintendo has done very well.  they don'tt make a new system until they absolutely have to and they don't f*ck around with attachments.
Of course games on obscure, short-lived, unpopular systems from companies that went bankrupt or left the market are the most fun to track down and there's nothing like pulling out a version of Bomberman or SF2 that your friend has never heard of...so i shouldn't complain.

Is that actually possible? If I remember right you could use either the Powerbase Converter or the 32X, but not both at the same time (they both plugged into the cartridge slot right?). I sold off all my Genesis stuff years ago so I honestly can't remember.

For you Shenmue fans: there's an amusing capsule toy that you can get that does what vestcoat described. It shows a Megadrive with the the Mega CD, a 32X, a Sonic & Knuckles cart plugged into the 32X, and then a Sonic cart plugged into the S&K cart .

Haha, that capsule sounds awesome and I was talk about making a stack that big.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).
